  • Just got a full refund by telephone for an online purchase of 3x Hardy's Crest wine, which they had charged at full price of £7.99 each :)
I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Actually it was the 200 g packs in both stores, 1 oak smoked 1 medium oak smoked.

Had a bit of hassle with my refund today. Rump Steak overpriced by a £1 a kilo, went to CS, informed her that I'd been overcharged, she sent for someone to check, went with her, soon a manager chap arrived, uum aahh, blah balh, its a genuine mistake, we'll give you the difference, 'oh no' I says you'll give me the refund and the product as per the policy, 'but this is a mistake' he says (did he expect me to feel sorry for tesco's and let him off  ) 'I know it is' I says, the CS says you were in the other day and got some mispriced stuff, 'I was in a few days ago and yes it was incorrectly priced, 'your abusing the policy' he says, 'don't you mean you are misleading consumers by incorrectly marking stuff', I says 'what do you so' he says 'well I'm a qualifed chartered accountant' I says 'oh I'll get your refund sorted' he says. :D  :T

After which I gave him a speach about the lack of proper control procedures  . I asked him what he wanted me to do next time I was overcharged ;) , he looked at me with an uneasy smile, but could not find an answer. :p:p:p

Has anyone else found this an issue ? If so what are you solutions / approach ? ;)

Yes I have had some of the 200g ones as revenge for the lack of giving me a refund for the 100g ones I got. They managed to weasel out of it, probably they were correct on this occasion, but the shelf labelling was still misleading even to a MSEr. Went to another store low and behold 200g ones overpriced.

Revenge is sweet !! especially served with a nice salad and a nice cool bOGOF beer.

So in other words, the other overcharged items are planned?

Perhaps when they said "you were in the other day, getting items for free", you could reply, "Yes, I was here the other day, and YES you overcharged me then too"!!

As Corporal Jones would say... "They Don't Like It Up 'em"
  • what are people's opinions of 1p overcharges per kg?

Not sure I dare try them - I'm sure some are related to rounding up rounding down etc.

Certianly would NEVER do it if the price per pound was wrong as they are supposed to sell everything in kg I think - therefore surely only worth doing ifprice per kg doesn't match?

IMO if the price is wrong, and you pay the higher of the two, then you've been overcharged - whether it's a penny or more.

If you feel that bad, buy five and then it's 5p per kilo!!! LOL

I've never had the nerve to buy anything that's a penny out per kilo - especially as it's usually the same price per pound. You don't actually get overcharged on the product, as far as I could calculate - the cheese worked out at the same price per pack using either of the kg prices.
