Nothing for me today (although did mange to use £19.43 coupons on a £35 shop :D ).
Did notice Sperrin Family Lamb joint - pack price £9.99 per kilo, shelf £9.98 per kilo. Was too chicken to go thru with this one - will only do it with the most obvious overcharges. :o

Although i have to admit i don't like doing it. But i have just spend over £100 and if they misprice anything well it is their fault.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Took my friend with me today...she became obsessed in the space of a few minutes and was very pleased to walk away with some free duck and cheese for a romantic night in with her hubby.

    Mmmm, cheesy duck!

  • first post, only discovered the site following the beef in gravy publicity - and a huge thankyou!

Decided to try out my local Tesco - Fleetsbridge, Poole, came away with 2 whole duck and 2 large smoked gammon - 30 pound refund!!

I was so nervous going to CS, but she was really nice and apologised!!

Took about 10 minutes and a visit from a surly looking Meat Manager ('serves him right', said the woman 'he'll have to sort out his own c*ck up! - enjoy the duck on us!')

Went then the Tesco Tower Park, Poole.

Both gammon and duck correctly priced. Had a look at the somerset brie - wrong by 1p per kg!!!

7.29 on the shelf, 7.30 on the packaging per kg, so got 4 packs. Bought a couple more bits and, because it was such a small amount, decided to just say 'I thought you'd like to know the price is wrong'. What a difference in reaction!!!

'I'll get someone from Dairy', she snarled. I stood there. 'Ok , I'll give you a refund' grabbing one of the packets and taking 1.73 out of the till. She put it on top of the other 3 packets (so obviously knew I had 4 lots) 'You're getting 1 of them free - on us'. I said 'but they are all wrong?'.......she glared at me.....'so, you bought these?' I nodded 'They are all yours?', I nodded again. Big pause.......well, I can give you a refund on all of them if you want' she snapped 'Yes please' I said - and I was going to be so nice about it, but she was horrid!!

She almost threw the money at me across the counter and said 'I need to get someone from Dairy' I thanked her, she ignored me, and I left with a big grin on my face!!

Need to shove a few packets of beef in gravy to the back of the freezer somehow now.......giggle..........

    Thankyou , thankyou all!!!!

    Hi Keren

    Welcome to MSE!

You realise that Tecso is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the many ways to save money...that thrill you felt at CS is only repeated even more when you get a free CD player, or a Boots bargain, or the many other things that occur.

1st tip is to sign up to Martins weekly email (link top left)

And so I'm not OT, can I just point out it was the black pepper duck breasts my friend got for free today, not the normal ones.icon10.gif

    Made me laugh keren29.

Glad you had a good first time experiance, we don't win them all so don't be upset when you are in but don't win one.

Not saying we lose any money, well I never have. Just treat it as a game and a bit of fun and if you make a saving that's a bonus.

Hope you stick arround, most folks here are nice and helpfull.

You are ahead of me as I have not had a Tesco bargin, that could be because I normally shop at ASDA and get a employee 10% discount on nearly everything.

Can others tell me how you spot the errors, what system do you use?

Do you just go along the isles looking for them randomly? or do you have better way.

Welcome to the land of the FREE karen, glad you enjoyed your baptism, make sure you hang around as Tesco are currently competing with Dell for the !!!!-up king stakes! Don't forget supermarkets are not too particular on what items they overcharge you on, take a pen and paper with you and jot down prices when you shop and you will soon see you can be overcharged in any department, as you will see from previous posts (presuming you have had the time to read them and the uncontrolled laughter was not to wearing on you) all sorts of items have popped up from extension leads to coffee and laptops to lollipops! Don't forget to come back and post if you locate something new for us to plunder.

All you need to do is pay attention where in the past you have just paid too much, compare shelf edge labels to pack labels for differential in price per pack or per kilo, check your receipts carefully and make note of prices on the shelf to compare with your receipt you will be surprised at how adept you become in a very short while and perhaps even a little angry at how regular it happens and all the time in the past you were oblivious.

But don't get too angry as it's a far better feeling to get even!

And remember just because there is a big sign there telling you there is a saving doesn't necessarily mean you are going to get that saving, check check check everytime
