  • Thanks to reading all about consumer rights on this thread I was really brave today and stood my ground when the customer services woman said she couldn't find the organic steak that I had bought, priced at £7.99 on pack and £6.99 on shelf. I found the manager and told her that there had been a £6.99 shelf sticker which had mysteriously vanished after I told the CS. She tried to fob me off with refunding the difference but I reminded her of Tesco's policy and got the two packs of steak for free!
Can't believe I did it! Thanks to all for your helpful posts.....I am a changed woman!

Off topic for a moment if you'll excuse me,

Did anyone notice the £10,000.00 fine Marks and Spencer copped in Birmingham today for MISLEADING prices and description under trades description act !"

    TAKE NOTE TESCO!

What were the grounds for the fine? Simple price inaccuracies or something else? And how were they reported/found out and who issued the fine?

Had a rather jolly day at Mr T locations today, got too much stuff to mention in detail, but one can certainty say that it was of epic proportions, even by MSE standards, the usual suspects, chicken, steak, salmon, cheese, were the main areas.   :j

Ben500 I completed my duck assignment after less than 24 hours, grabbing 3 of the little quackers, amongst other things. :D :j

In one store the CS said do you go around looking for these, (remembered me from 2 weeks ago on organic cheese), oh no !!! I replied. She said there is someone who does it for a living, uum me thinks an MSEr no doubt ;) , 'well if I had a policy that gave stuff for free I'd employ someone to make sure it's right' I said smiling happily as I stuffed the freebies back into the trolley. :p :money:

I had same misprice the other day £6.99 vs £7.99, very nice too. ;) Had a nice steak sandwich after my gym workout, jolly good for the old protein intake. No hassle from CS as the shelf sticker was in full display.
  • took a little drive tonight .

Well worth it 4 packs salmon and 2 cheese also 4 gammon at one store then 4 more packs salmon and 4 packs chicken fillets at another,
But the manager at the other store tried to say that the shelf edge price was not for the product on display, I said well show me what it is for then. He backed down and refunded,.
Excellent site and thanks again MSE'ers

They were mainly for false description their leather goods were marked "Italian" "Genuine Italian" etc and actually marked inside as made in India, Ukraine etc All were clearly marked as having Italian origins in prominant displays and large attached labels such as you would see in supermarkets but closer inspection inside found the offending true origins, these were jackets, trousers, shoes, handbags etc millions and millions of products but as case was brought against them in Birmingham only example cases offered and capitulation by M&S resulted in finding as they knew if they fought the action it could well have developed into masses of cases nationwide!! BEWARE TESCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:A New in Tesco Finest cheese wedges, Wensleydale with Cherries, Mature Chedder with shallots, Creany Lancs with Apricots, Double Gloucester with Peppers, all 9.99Kg on pack and 9.95kg on shelf. CS lady not impressed [I had 2 packets of salmon as well] and tried to tell me very loudly that I had only been charged 9.95 per kilo. Wouldn't listen when I showed her that weight .254 price 9.99 = £2.54 which I was charged. Stomped off to get help, returned with 2 other ladies who both realised I was right [they were really nice but she wouldnt listen to them either], she still continued to argue said I could have refund for salmon but she was only giving difference for cheese. I replied I don't think so it is an overcharge and full refund or Trading standards as the whole of the stock was at wrong price. My daughter also mentioned that we had seen several more items in store wrongly priced and would mention these as well. I'll need to see the manager came the reply, she returned vey quickly and just scanned the items for refund without another word. Daughter said she could just imagine night staff trying to check every item in store for misprice that night before trading standards arrived bit like mission impossible. PS to the MSE who could't find anything in Leyland, Chicken and gammon both wrong last night, I know cause I was there and got some.

  • thankyou for the warm welcome!

I'm thinking of popping along to Tesco later to see if the Keane album is wrong- I've been wanting that one for ages!!

I'll let you all know if I find anything - I'll be on the lookout for wrong prices now!
