Hi all, thanks for the help offered so far but I had a few questions.
Firstly just to give my background, I've booked two return flights to HK in June with Oasis on my DEBIT card. My bank is LloydsTSB.
I was wondering how I should complain to the bank, is there a set procedure?
Secondly, I read a previous post suggesting that there are alternate addresses to post that 'Registration of Claims with the Provisional Liquidators Form'. The address on the one I have filled out says
The Provisional Liquidators
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines Limited
KPMG
27th Floor, Alexandra House
18 Charter Road
Central, Hong Kong.
Is this the right address and should I post the letter to them then?
Thanks in advance.0 -

I am not sure but i am sending my through to their email address provided, download the PDF file, edit it then send it back, also use the fax number if you manage to get it through.Sam_Bee wrote:Did your travel agent cover you for Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (called SAFI for short) - they might well cover all customers, and certainly companies cover it for all bookings (i.e. Trailfinders).
I am not sure, it is one of the trvel agent located in london, FETC, Far East Travel Centre. it is a member of IATA and ARTA.
http://www.fetc.co.uk
and Under the Terms and Conditions in Section 4 it states
"If the Company cancels a tour due to insufficient booking or circumstances beyond its control, the Company will refund all money paid and the full refund will constitute final settlement for the client. The Company shall not be held responsible for any expenses that may have incurred as a result of the client's booking."
so i am guessing i can get a full refund from them and have to wait for few more days for their decision0 -
Thanks for everyones useful info!!!!!
So are people claiming through oasis and their credit card companies? Will the credit card company not file your claim if you are claiming through oasis too?
I hear it takes ages to actually get money back from a credit card company, as they have to wait and see what happens with Oasis? ..how long have people been told? ?
As Oasis have not officially said they can't pay people back..though it is obvious. Will the credit card companies still accept that?
Thanks for any advice!0 -

When Maxjet went bust, I got £1100 back which I paid them and another £900 to make up what I had to pay BA for two Club Class seats.
Just want to clarify whether 'charge-back' and CCA s75 are two different things. My understanding is that 'charge-back' is something that the credit card issuer claim back from the merchant from the credit acquirer - so it works exactly like using the credit card but the other round. That will just give you the 'money back' if the 'charge-back' claim is succesful and hence not include any extra cost that has incurred as a result?! CCA s75 is when you can't claim any money back, even through 'charge-back' and then the credit card issuer will have the liability to refund you plus any extra that you might need to spend for the same service. Is this correct?
I think I am claiming approx £2400 with MBNA on 'charge-back' and they are going to send the claim form out within 5 working days. They did say that i can only start claiming 'charge-back' once oasis has declared official liquidation but at least my transactions are 'in dispute'. If then 'charge-back' is not successful, i can then proceed with CCA s75?0 -
I have just called HSBC and they said that if transaction was made with a credit card you will eventually get a full refund. They said any additional refunds (i.e. to make up difference for new flights) will be decided later. So at least we can get a refund, and maybe claim the rest at a later date.0

That's good to know. We got our tickets using HSBC credit card too! Did they say how long it would take?0 -
ahh ok. HSBC told me to detail the new flight cost on the claim form which i will do. And im going to send them a letter based around Moonrakers post on page 2 (i think its page 2).0

I just spoke to Natwest (again), they can't increase my limit because being a student sucks. But the lady said I should try ringing in the morning to ask the team who deals with increasing limits.
I will explain that I only need the temporary increased limit for me to purchase the tickets which is £300 more than my £500 limit and then pay the CC company straight after from moving my monies from the current account.
If Natwest won't increase my limit then I will call Financial Ombudsman for advice and hope that I can use other payment methods besides using the same credit card!
Pay £300+ into your credit card account. That will give you the £800 credit that you need. Assuming that you don't have any outstanding balance to pay on the card.0 -

Extracts from April 11 Friday's South China Morning Post:
CHEUNG KONG LOAN GOES TO SHAREHOLDERS
Cheung Kong (Holdings), controlled by Hong Kong's richest man, Li Ka-Shing, provided a personal loan to shareholders of Oasis.
The property companty confirmed yesterday it had provided a loan 'to persons connected to Oasis Hong Kong Airlines'.
"The loan is of a personl nature. The Cheung Kong Group is not a shareholder nor a creditor of Oasis Hong Kong Airlines," the company said.
The details of Cheung Kong's loan follow the SCMP's report yesterday that the airline had been on the brink of rescue when it was discovered that its chairman, the Reverend Raymond Lee Cho-min, had provided his shares as collateral for a personal loan.
The discovery was made in the final stages of the negotiations with HNA Group, parent of Hainan Airlines, which had been prepared to buy out Oasis.
