Sorry, I haven't read thread yet but I just nipped in to tell you about our 3 month old MALE guinea pig (we bought 2 brothers).

HE has a sore spot on the back of HIS neck so HE'S just been to the vet. The vet said 'I'm really sorry but I can't treat this. HE is a SHE and is due to give birth in 2 - 4 weeks' Vet was so excited - it's the first pregnant one he's treated - he said a scan is £45, it's not needed but he wanted to see so he did it for freeeeeeee :D

The sore spot is going to be treated as soon as the babies have stopped weaning and Beans (the daddy) is booked in for the snip in a fortnight's time

Grrrr... having promised myself a moneysaving day I ended up spending nearly £50

I phoned up to double-check something about the ballet course, and while I was in the phone I thought I had better check about suitable clothing (the website when I booked the course simply said "soft ballet shoes with elastics, and tie your hair back"). I had hoped my gym wear would be OK. I spoke to the course tutor, and was told I really did need a leotard and tights  so the teacher could see the muscles working properly. So I excused myself from work an hour early, got on the tube (£1.50) and went to a dancewear specialist... ended up buying a cotton lycra leotard (which is going to look really stoopid once my humungous sports bra goes on underneath  - hmmm yes the last time I wore a leotard I was 8 years old with no boobs!) and a pair of tights. Cost me nearly £40 in total  Fortunately I did have the money available due to the moneysaving efforts of my friend Jo who's found a much cheaper deal than I expected on the hotel we're staying at in Paris for my birthday - but here was I thinking it might be a bit extra for a rainy day

Then I went to Boots for some burn plasters (£3.99) and got the tube back (another £1.50).

Anyway tomorrow is another day, and I can't think of anything I need to spend (famous last words)...

Spag bol is bubbling on the stove smelling absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS, and r.mac, I LIKE your suggestion about lemon drizzle cake. Sounds good to me :D though I think it's going to be tomorrow I make it now :)

smokybabe, good to know you're lurking again - come back and post soon ((hugs))

    Love Rzl xx

    Evening all :)

I've had a busy evening again and just wanted to pop in and say hello befroe I go to bed.

DD2's teacher asked for some of my recipes so I sat here this evening printing off a lot of my favourite ones (Twink, your hob nobs are in there!) Hope she likes them and doesn't think I'm being too pushy???

Tried making a focaccia tonight in the BM, looks a bit funny, it puffed up a bit too much, but as it's just out I can't say how it tastes

If I don't appear online tomorrow night, the focaccia's got me :D

(((((hugs))))) to all who are in need.

Martyn, nice to hear the head's a bit better.

I'm off for a :coffee: before I retire

    Nytol :D:D:hello:

    Hi guys,

the kids have been back in school since Tuesday and I have found that I am absoloutely exhausted. The last few weeks of having to cope I think are now catching up with me. The kids are loving their lunchboxes and to keep my end of the deal with them they has a beef casserole on Tues, Pizza and beans today, the rest of the stew tomorrow and probably fish and chips on Fri.

I saw Steve our financial advisor on Tuesday and to be fair he went through everything with me. We are in no danger of loosing the house,("NO, NO, NO Mrs Roberts I think the press would have a field day if Northern Rock pulled the plug") and seems to think that obtaining a deal when the fixed rate ends in 3 years will not be a problem either. (However as relieved as I am I really don't know if we will stay here)

Todays trip was to the solicitors over a dispute that OH had with a "friend" involving quite a large sum of money. I will tell more further on in the future but it looks like I may have a case to take forward and to that end will have to go back next week to put in an application for legal aid.

Tommorrow is a trip to the GP for a natter and another note.

The pension from OH's old job has cleared and I need to send in my bank details. It turned out to be £42.50 a week. I am in no way complaining as every penny will help at this stage.

The kids seem to be coping well at the moment and the eldest has carried on looking for hugs and generally trying to help me. I even got an I love you today and coming from him - well unheard of. He has always been and independant child right from being a baby and never looked for hugs etc. It was a real shock to me when his sister came along and was the total opposite.

I need to iron the uniforms and sort out the lunchboxes and hopefully get some sleep.

Thank you all for your thoughts and I remain really touched by you all. Such kindness.....

    Smoky.

Awww smoky, I know I said this already a while ago but you are already sounding better and better with every post. Please remember though, no matter how much better you are sounding, we all know life isn't "normal" for you at the moment, and many people round here have been widowed with kids and know exactly what you're going through. So do keep getting better, but we aren't going to forget a few months down the line that things are still going to be hard for you to deal with. As for me, I don't actually have a clue about what you're going through, but please do always feel you can come and talk to us.

Smoky...lovely to see you posting, glad that the children are back at school, it helps them to get back to normal...hope that you are looking after yourself and eating some of the lovely dinners you are cooking for them! Feeling exhausted is part of grieving, try to let yourself have a little nap while the los are at school if you can. You are doing a great job...hugs to you all!

Haribo...your loaf story reminded me of the time I brought home two very large crusts when sent for a loaf...think my mother had to laugh it looked so funny...I'd have killed one of mine if they did it!

    Night all, sleep well
