Had a quick squint at you all from work but as usual the big boys in head office kept throwing me off the server.

Hope you have all have had not too bad a day.

Well, that is it. The kitchen project is finished!!!!!!!!! I am pleased with the decoration and DH pleased with the costing spreadsheet I e-mailed him today!!!!!!! Spent just over the £7, 000 he transferred to me before he went away for his big trip. I have gone just over by a couple of hundred and that included outside paintwork, bathroom ceiling decoration, roller blind for the bathroom and computer repair! (Can you see the smug smile on my face?)

Only problem is that the protective film on one of the new glass doors doesn't want to come off - came off the other new door no problem. Will seek advice from joiner tonight.

Hope to send you a Photobucket link of the various stages in due course.

Now just under 4 weeks until my family holiday in Spain. I feel I can now relax and enjoy it as really the last 2 weeks I have had off haven't been a holiday. Hope it is warm over there when we go but with 3 boys to help with can't see much lounging in the sun!

Will try and catch up better later this evening.

    Love and hugs to all.

    Edit

I didn't include new basin, drainer, bin, toaster, kettle etc etc in costing as technically they didn't need replaced and were just 'pretty' extras! As he is retired and saves me so much on picking up the yellow stickered food felt I could absorb this cost as I am saving loads on the housekeeping!

    Hi all,

Big hugs to Smoky, you and the children are still in our thoughts.

Welcome to all the new posters who have joined.
Work today and then I went and did some shopping, managed to pick up a couple of reduced bits :D
Miss Twit returned to school today and she was asked to go into work this evening 5-8.30, one of the other girls is off, she got a lift from school to work, she was going to walk, but one of her teachers offered her a lift. As she is helping out in a chinese takeaway, they provide a meal for her so not only is she earning a bit of pocketmoney, she is also getting fed :rotfl:

I really must knuckle down and do some sorting out at home, we just seem to keep accumulating clutter and it's beginning to wind me up.

On an OS topic, what do people use to clean the outside of their windows. As my window cleaner seemed to only be able to clean portholes and never made it into a corner or managed to remove to remove the bird poop, I've sacked him. So I'd like some ideas before I venture into Wilkinsons or somwhere and waste my money.

Love and hugs to those in need.

Twit, I use washing up liquid/stardrops on a sponge and remove it with a squeedgie. If there are drops left I rub the window with a scrunched up newspaper.

Do you have your sponge on a pole, only my windows are quite high, and as our front slopes, I don't fancy climbing up steps. I'm only trying to do the ground floor...idle moo that I am..

The blue roof is actually a transit van to give an idea of how high the windows are.

    Hello all,:hello:

I didn't get chance to post yesterday as I have college on a tuesday eve (Indian Head Massage of all things) so its always pretty hectic. Tonight OH made fish pie for tea with the 20p haddock, I'm feeling very spoilt as I've not cooked since sunday (last night doesn't count, I had left-over cauli cheese on toast). For some reason I've come over all tired so not done much housework-wise tonight, I'm giving myself till 8 then I'll get off my lazy bottom and do a bit.

I tried to book a hair appointment last night at college as they're free for students (I figure that if anything goes wrong I can go to a "real" hairdresser for what it would have cost anyway. But the only nights they do is tuesdays and they don't do saturdays. So I either pay the "real" hairdresser or take a half day off work and for some reason I'm feeling incapable of making a decision!!! And I really need to get it sorted as my hair is now resembling a small bush.

I need to ask about the window cleaning and newspaper thingy mentioned a couple of times. I've always used a chamois leather on mine - in fact once when I was cleaning the windows OH came along with a newspaper and tried to show me this method and put a dirty black newspaper-print streak across my clean shiny windows! Is there a trick to it?

    Congratulations to R.Mac:T

Hugs to anyone who wants one.

Hi Gena, whenever I've tried the newspaper thing before, I've ended up covered in newsprint, along with all the white plastic UPVC window frames.
