)
not long been up, DD is still in bed, oh is cooking scrambled eggs and bacon, its sooooo relaxing here, its so easy in the evening to open a bottle of wine and sit in front of the log burner, will have to start to cut back a bit next week
Not sure what we are up to today, might go back to the lighthouse and do the guided tour ( it was not on last time we went) then might go to a local town for a wander around and fish and chips, this is the life eh
Hugs to all , esp smokey and martyn

Morning all :hello:
Typed out a humungous post yesterday but deleted it by mistake.Spent most of the day in the garden with just a short trip to the park and then my friend and her girls came up for the afternoon. The veg patch is taking shape but i am impatient for the warmer weather. Got so much washing dried yesterday that I should really iron today but I can't bear to be inside.
The other bonus of getting out is that there is less likelyhood that the girls can destroy anything else. We're on day 3 of the holidays and so far we've had one mutilated blanket box, one toilet blocked with a sock, one tablecloth ruined with felt tip pen, the entire contents of one child's wardrobe deposited in the laundry basket cos they couldn't be bothered to hang it up and the piece de resistance..... When I went to slice yesterdays HM bread I found it was hollow as Dtwin2 had poked a hole in it and eaten it from the inside out.
Tea will be omlettes I think as I have a glut of eggs and I really should iron tonight.
Thinking of you always smoky. x
Hope your joints are a little better Pam.
Hope you're ok Anniestar.
Bargain...Have you thought about a tatoo to cover the burn?
Nelski....Did you run away with the tiler?

:hello:Morning!
(((hugs)))) to Smoky - you are all still in my thoughts, hang on in there love!
I've just got a letter to say that I have to do a first aid course on Friday so that day is now written off but I do want the training and it will be a bit of overtime towards paying the mortgage down!:j
I am still trying to get to the bottom of the freezers and menu plan accordingly, I seem to have frozen everything! Lots of little bags of veg and fruit and breadcrumbs and bits of stilton. Should be an interesting menu!
breakfast was porridge and de-luxe (said so on the packet;)) dried fruit
lunch - left over pasta meal , hm hobnobs, fruit
dinner - country pie and steamed veg (carrots and shredded cabbage) with home made fruit salad to follow
Veg box delivery turned up and I have yet more beetroot to use (been shredding it up with carrot to make a nice salad with orange juice) also carrots, leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, pears, oranges and kiwi fruit. I still have fruit and veg in the fridge as it lasts so well in the lakeland green bags.
There is more milk on the turn so will have to make some more scones and put those into the freezer. I guess this is why I never seem able to empty the freezers!:rotfl:
Last night I had a left over egg white (from making the snickerdoodles) so made some microwave meringues - great fun - just 1 beaten egg white and about 10oz sifted icing sugar mixed in to make a thick fondant like mix, then roll pieces into walnut size balls and pop 3 at a time onto a plate and micro for about 1 minute, fun to watch them grow, like something out of dr who! They are not pretty as such but I am going to use them to crunch up into eton mess which I make with yogurt, some hm jam and then the meringue and chill in the fridge. It does make a lot though so I hope they will keep in the tupperware container I have, would be better if they would freeze! Has anyone done this?
Must go empty the wm and try to get it all dry! The ironing pile is growing at an alarming rate too! there are only the 2 of us!
Take care

Morning,
Catznine - What is country pie?
BargainRzl - I meant to say yesterday, BioOil is supposed to be good for preventing scarring
Benthos - I hope you start to feel a bit better soon, hugs to you.
Well, things have not improved much here. OH had to leave at 5.45, so set the alarms for 4.45 so he could have a shower and empty his van. I woke up with the alarms, spent the next 3/4 of an hour persuading him to wake up and get out of bed, and when he finally did he screamed at me for making him late- despite the fact that I had made his lunch, got his clean uniform folded up at the end of the bed (including pants and socks) and made him a coffee.
I can understand because he is pretty much working 6am - 12pm ( yes, that is an 18 hour day) this week, and everyone else is vying for his attention as well, but it would be nice if I didn't get an earful all the time.
Anyway, have put a washing load on, forgot to put the bins out - must ring the council to find out when our recycling is done now. Have also stripped the bed, and will iron the duvet later ready for it to be changed.
I think today I will be cleaning the house to 'new pin' status. Hopefully that will put OH in a better humour.
Not sure whats for dinner yet, possibly fish bake with mash and veg.
Have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

sorry - that had me in stitchesr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
rzl ask at the chemist for opsite dressing. THey're a moist wound healing dressing, which you leave on for several days. the top of the wound doesn't go crusty, shrink and stretch the surrounding skin. They come in packs of 5 or you can sometimes get them individually at the dispensing counter, There are other brands I think. My sis recommended them,. She had blistering on her face when she had shingles and has no scarring at all. It's only because she had just started nursing training that she knew about moist wound healing.
Letting the air is a bit old fashioned I think in the dept of healing of wounds. You're exposing the wound to a whole lot more than air!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

It is sort of like shepherds pie only you add tomatoes (I use tinned) to the mince, I also spice it up with herbs and garlic but Mum just did mince in gravy with the slced tomatoes on the top, then add a layer of cooked peas and then mash potato on top of that, Grated cheese on top of the mash before it goes into the oven to brown. Don't know why it is called country pie but with onions in the gravy, tomatoes, potatoes and peas I guess you do have a fair few ingredients from the garden.:D
(((hugs))) hope things get better for you soon, sounds like extreme over tiredness, Mr Catz used to be like that whenever he worked nights and yet normally he is such a lovely guy!
Twink - those hobnobs have gone down a storm at Mr Catz's office, he phoned to ask if I could make up a batch to take in tomorrow.:D
