Tesco online shopping

  • I get my groceries delivered from Asda on a fortnightly basis due to residing in a high-rise towerblock, not driving and public omnibuses not being convenient with heavy bags. Used to struggle on for years with muscle pulls in hands/shoulders & living on a windy hill, in tears coz I was having to fight the blasted weather into the bargain. So for me it is a necessity rather than a posh luxury. & the Sunday after the Wednesday the last order was deliverd, I will do my online order with delivery booked for my favorite cheap slot of 10-12 Wed. And having it deliverd means I can bulk buy, or buy the larger packs of food items etc. Oh, & I have had a duvet, kettle and an iron all delivered with the groceries. Made me feel like I lived in London and had ordered from Harrods PMSL. hth x.

Mostly it's been said. I do my order two weeks before delivery which means I can 'fiddle' with it. I do the shopping once a month with fruit/veg top ups done by dh on his way home.

I went into Tesco's on Saturday and it was a loathsome experience - I can't understand why anyone wastes an hour of their life once a week to do it.

Over the past eighteen months I've only had two shops with no money off by using a code. I've done two with £12 off and the latest with £9. This means that I've never paid for delivery + saving on top.

I never pay full price for cheese because there is always a cheap offer. I do watch the expiry date for bogofs and offers.

I would never go back to shopping instore.

I just wanted to add to this post to back up the online shopping...

I shop with Tesco online, I have done for about 3/4yrs now and it is fantastic!!!

Re substitutions and bags. I always ask for delivery with NO BAGS although they always send one or two which is really handy. The frozen food generally comes with a bag and any substitutions usually come in a bag that has been turned inside out (to distinguish it). Any subsitutions that you are not happy with you can just hand back to the driver straight away, and i have never had a nasty driver, ever.

With the fruit and veg, I was a bit weary at first but I can honestly say it has always been brilliant stuff, not mouldy or 'on it's last legs' so to speak.

I have on one or two occasions had some meat or dairy with very little date left on it, but a quick call to CS and it has been refunded to my account, and I get to keep the product too....

I would definately reccomend trying it even if just for a few weeks, I know I would NEVER NEVER go back to doing my main weekly shop in store.

Only downside...I've never had a nice looking one yet!!!!!

I use the online service if there's a code for extra clubcard points (woohoo!!!) hanging around, but otherwise call in on my way to or from work as it's on the way (and that's TOO convenient sometimes!).

I like the online better because ther are no impulse buys and you can spend time really considering what you're spending rather than just rushing round fliniging stuff in the trolley in a bid to get out as soon as possible. On the other hand, you can't raid the Reduced fridge and get loads of meat and fish dead cheap.

Our local grocery used to sell milk in plastic sachets in the 70's and also sold a jug-type frame to pour it from.
We still have those in Argentina! My mum loves them. Dead cheap. And we never bothered with a jug either :P

I use tesco every week now, i am a big impulsive buyer. I can easily spend £150 a week on groceries if i actually go and do it myself i also suffer from trolley rage:rotfl: :p .

On average i spend about £70 to £75 per week, which is half of what i did/would spend when i go out and do it myself. Thats for a family of 6 including a littley in nappies. Usually my total bill is around £90 to £100 once it arrives the vouchers and money off coupons have come off making it at around £70 to £75. Even if i do a small shop i can usually get a £5 off you can't get that in the shop itself and i would rather it be in my pocket than MR T's his are fat enough already!

Also take off fuel for the car, then time spent actually shopping, and on top off that the stress. Its well worth the delivery money. Also if you get it on Tuesday and Wednesday evening its about £3.75 now, which is cheaper than what it was.

I also make sure i buy enough milk and bread for the week than i don't have just nip to the shops and spend £20 when i actually oonly went for milk:rolleyes:
You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

I never considered myself an impulse buyer, but after reading all your comments, it sounds just like me! So maybe if I start shopping online I'll find I spend a lot less!

Since I've moved in with OH I've gone to Tescos weekly and spent no less than abotu £25 each week. Last Tuesday I ordered my shopping online for the first time (by going through my meal plan for the next 4 or more weeks). It came to a grand total of £30 - and I can't find ANYTHING to order for the next two weeks (then we're in Malta for a week).

It def does stop those impulse buys! :rotfl:

I'm desperate to do online shopping again - but I have nothing to get!
