Tesco online shopping

i only ever get it delivered at the £3.99 charge unless theres an emergency. I order once a month and get everything i think i need for the month ahead then just top up for fresh stuff.
I use discounts vouchers normally between £5 and £10 i dont think i have once paid for a delivery so free delivery is the minimum discount i get and normally a bit off my shopping too. so i always save money as i can not impulse buy like i would at the shops ( and i always do) so it has always pays for me to shop online and it save me so much time now too.
take a look at this board the top to threads are tesco http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=38Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

For much the same reasons as everyone else:
No impulse buying, Tesco is miles away, all the offers are in one place and easily found, etc.
I think the opportunity cost saving is what appeals to me most, I do my shop when it is most convenient for me, I can do it in batches, and I can do much more rewarding things than do a physical shopping trip.
Also for me, I have problems manouvring a full shopping trolley and can't lug big, heavy stuff about.
I rarely 'pay' the delivery charge beacuse of vouchers.0 -
See, it's the complete opposite for me - I have both Tesco and Sainsburys local to me so the fuel isn't an issue, the thing I don't like is that I cant get to choose my fruit a veg and the choice of F&V is limited on the website (as is the choice of quantities). For this reason I don't have my shopping delivered0

I don't drive, so once in a while we will do a shop on the tesco website which normally consists of flour, fizzy water and other really heavy things. I also work long hours so I'd rather not waste what little time I have trolling round a supermarket. Like others, I'll also check if i have an item rather than just wonder if actually have it and pick it up just to be on the safe side.
I don't buy perishables on-line. They come from the market (for fruit and veg) or somerfield on OH's way home or lidl if I can get there.
Delivery on my order which came last night was £3.75... the money off code I used saved me £6. Most of it was bogofs, so worked out a very cheap shop.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

However I do think that if I had a family to feed instead of just me, the quantities involved would be difficult to manage unless I shopped every day, and I would have far less flexibility as to when I would be able to go to the supermarket. I would certainly get my shopping delivered in these circumstances, using a money off code to compensate for the delivery.
The one thing I do order online is wine, for the simple reason that if I buy in bulk every four months or so, I can use the 1000 extra points coupons that Tesco send me (normally applies to a spend of over £90 or £100, and above £100 delivery is free anyway)

I did use to use online shopping for a little while when I couldnt get out so easy, but now I do the shopping myself and my local store is only 5 mins from me. I find I am spending around about the same as I used to... not sure whether it is because I go with a list or whether I found it easy to scan through the pages of online at my leisure and pick other things i wouldnt usually pick.
I must agree with a previous poster I do like to pick my own fruit and veg0 -
I too shop selectively online.
I don't drive and a bus to Mr T's and a cab back would be far more than the delivery charge (but then I don't put the order through until I've found a code)
I have a Somerfield and a medium size co-op as well as Iceland within walking distance all of whom do free delivery so my shopping is inclined to be a mix but a big shop once a month to include a month's worth of catfood, flour and other heavy items is a must-and I do find the being able to check the cupboards so I don't buy what I might have run out of (and usually haven't) is useful. Obviously with all the offers in one place it's much easier to menu plan around any offers at leisure rather than try to recalculate a menuplan on the hoof mid aisle too. I often start a shop one day and finalize it the next-that thinking time between often brings the bill down too.
I rack up far more points for far less money this way too.
It isn't for everyone and I too have an Aldi nearby which I'm using more and more but for certain things it isn't to my personal taste.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

My local Tesco is about 10 minutes away but I don't have a car, so I shop online once a month for staples like rice and pasta, tinned goods etc. but I tend to pop in to the shop on my way home for fruit & veg, fresh meat etc.
If I did all my shopping instore, I'd need a taxi which would cost around £5 then I would have all the inconvenience of packing bags and lugging them outside. Plus, the taxi service is so shocking that I've had to wait up to half an hour for them to turn up.0 -
I find I spend less than I would in-store and use money off codes when they are avaliable which brings down the total even more. It also saves me money on petrol too.
Exactly that - my Tesco is 16 miles away so the £3.75 delivery (21:00 - 23:00) I'm using for tonight has saved me that in petrol (and I used a £3 voucher so it only cost me 75p). I've cut my shopping to the bear bones (but to include some offers) and I can't be tempted by anything else! It's £30 and that should see me through the rest of the month except eggs, fruit and a tiny bit of extra veg.
(And I ordered very little veg - only what they couldn't get too wrong as I don't trust them to pick the freshest stuff! WIll stop at Aldi on my route home for this!)
My first order - hope I get it all!:o0
