Tesco online shopping

I use both Tesco and Asda online and whilst i agree the pricematch for substitutions on Asda is good there is no way on the Asda site to write notes to your pickers or to pick out certain things which you will not accept substitutes for, so I prefer Tesco for this reason.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740

But what about the delivery drivers????;) :rotfl:0 -
Funny, isn't it - I like the Asda site much more and think the prices of the stuff I buy are definitely much of a muchness with Tesco... and as for the delivery staff, The Asda guy wasn't much to look at, granted, but the Tesco guys were all complete munters - the ones I saw, anyway. But I've got my DH to swoon about - he's gorgeous!
In fact, I'm off to have a look at him now...;)
We had a french one, he was nice.. lol.. asked what perfume I wore as I always smelled lovely.. and the baby one.. that obviously flirted with everyone who stood still long enough (I can deal with that) ... then.. one that looked like the 'builder' out of The Village People.. I changed my slot after he delivered lol

I shop online with Tesco every week. My delivery is normally about £4.25 and I always always always (x 1000000+ !!) spend tonnes less when I do it online than when I go instore to do my shopping, even with the delivery charge.
My budget for food shopping each week is £25 and this includes the charge. I don't have a car so to get the bus there is £1.50 and a cab home is around £5-£6 so I'm saving instantly. And it's sooooooo convenient. It arrives in the slot that I've booked and I'm up two flights of stairs and they bring it up for me! I've been really lucky in the whole time I've done it that I rarely get substitutions, maybe about 5 times in over a year???
I wouldn't do it any other way now.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Well the one from asda has a metal hook instead of a hand and he's old enought to be my grandad (he's very nice though) and tesco tend to be spotty 18 year olds so I'm missing out on that added bonus of online shoppingMFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
I agree with the others, well worth it for the convenience. I always go for the £3.25 delivery time and do all the heavy stuff - tins and bottles etc. I might well do enough for 6 weeks to 2 months as well if I'm organised.
I like that you can check out the special offers properly and go off and check whether you need them. You can also plan a few recipes around special offers.
But the best thing is that you can change your order right up until the morning of the delivery so it is very flexible
Finally I find the delivery ladies complain a LOT less than the guys. And don't forget the delivery promise is to your fridge door so make it clear that you expect this!0 -
I generally find it cheaper to buy in store.
The main reason we spend the amount we do on shopping is the multibuys and reduced section prices. For example at asda this weekend straight to wok noodles were £1.38 each or 3 for £2. We use tonnes of these so I bought a trolley full. But as we had them in the cupboard I wouldn't have checked online to see if they were on offer and when I did need them might have had to pay full price.
Also my local tesco and asda are both only a mile and a half away so it costs me nothing to get there and keeps me fit.0 -
Just to add my twoppennorth worth.
I've been using tesco online for a few years as I don't drive and a taxi is £3 either way. Its 20 mins down the road, as is Morrisons.
I spend less online as I can see my balance going up with every item I add to my basket. I also like the fact I can store my favourites.
I tried Asda but really couldn't cope with their website. Far too chaotic for me, and the level of substitutions was quite shocking! Yes the price match was a good deal, but honestly, three carrier bags worth was just crazy.
MethererNot heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Just thought I'd offer a different angle,
If any one is concerned about the environmental side of things (which they don't appear to be), I look at it this way: it's a bit like getting the bus instead of driving, only the shopping has to share a ride with other people's shopping, rather than you sharing a bus (or supermarket) with asbos and Bianca-a-likes.
Most people seem to feel somehow guilty about using online shopping, I think they feel they are being lazy. But in fact it's usually cheaper, alot easier, a hell of a lot less stressful, and better for the environment - plus it provides some extra jobs for a few people. Everyones a winner.
Go on, get someone else to do your shopping for you - it's your civic duty. Besides, you'll get over it.0 -
