    Dear Elle,
Many thanks for your reply. Am going to print it off to take with me. No point in buying a book on Playa Blanca! :):T:T:T

You're very welcome pid2004 - and remember to pop on here and ask any other questions that you may have! If I don't reply within 24 hours... then drop me a PM in case I've missed it. That goes for anyone by the way!

Getting very excited as we head next week! Just wondering if there are tours offered to the main attractions around the island? Are there any restaurants you'd recommend that are family friendly (I have 2 and there are quite a few others in the group going with children) And is there anything you'd say to not miss?

    HI there again Girlzmum.

Firstly - don't wory about restaurants being family friendly - 99% of them are... and the kiddies will be very welcome as long as they're not running riot.:rotfl:
Yes, plenty of tours... head to Last Minute Travel, which is opposite the taxi rank in the main HIgh Street. Alternatively, the hotels all offer trips too. Are you hiring a car? If so, I can point you to some free tours too!
You MUST visit Timanfaya... and if you can also do all the Cesar Manrique places then that's cool also.
    Have a fab time hon!

Thanks Elle, just in from work and have spent the day telling myself that I get on a plane tomorrow week! We're not sure about car hire, my in laws are hiring but it won't be big enough for all of us and tbh I'm reluctant to spend for a weeks hire when we'll get to use it for 3/4 days at most (between catching up with relatives, all the run up to the big day and the wedding itself, and time to recover!) Although free is my FIL's favourite word so details of free tours would b much appreciated.

  • Hi Elle,

    Hope you are well.
Finally got my wish, we are coming over for a fortnight to Lanza again 28th March, after missing it last year. Went to Calahonda, Southern Spain and it didn't float my boat.

Any tips for a family of five wanting to visit the water park and also Timanfaya park to see the volcanos? would you hire a car or coach it?

We're staying near 'the snug' so hope to bump into you.

    Hi Hammers!

Right - definitely take the car to Timanfaya - as then it costs only €8 for adults to get in... and I think it's €5 for youngsters. You drive in, pay at the ticket booth... then go up to the car park at the top. From there yu get the coach that takes you around the parque, then you can watch the water jet and the straw burning at your own leisure. If you were to do that on a trip - you're talking WAY into double figures for each person.

Also... when you come out of Timanfaya - turn left instead of right... and go to the free Visitors' Centre which is on that same road.

For the water park - simple answer is don't. It is in very sore need of repair, offers no shade if you wanted it... and has a bad reputation. Better to jump on the ferry to Corralejo, and go to Baku Water Park - which is much better.

Yeah - see you at the Snug! WE're often in Le Moka (for wonderful pastries) and the Lighthouse (corking cooked breakfasts) too - which are either side of the bar.

    Have fun!

  • Hi Elle,
This thread is incredibly helpful and has inspired me to join MSE instead of just lurking! :)

We're off to Playa Blanca in a few weeks and I wondered if I could ask you a few questions....

We are staying in a villa just off Calle Europa. Do you know that area? Does the area have a name? I think it's about 20 mins walk to the centre. Do you know if we would always be walking into the centre for shops/cafes/restaurants or are there things dotted about en route?

We will be arriving on a Sunday and so I'm assuming that shops will be closed. Are there any that stay open that would allow us to buy milk? We can manage without most things but we'll have some little'uns with us so would be handy not to have to bring milk from the UK for the first night/morning.

I may ask you some more things as I think of them if you don't mind. I've just booked this quite last minute so only just starting to think about it now!

    Many thanks, Emma
