OK so how do you use it 'normally'? So that you can fill the car up. Is that the 3rd button?

I have to be honest dave and say I don't know. I'll get Alan to have a look next time he's at that petrol station... but normally he uses the one in town.

No problem abbecer - and Dave has answered your question for you. It's a bit early for the spring rains, but yes it will be warm. Even if it does rain, it shouldn't last for too long. Maybe not cloudless skies... but certainly hazy sun and fine for sunbathing. You may find the sea a little bracing though. Mind you I'm a wuss... so you may be braver.

Hey there Tbeckett... it really depends what you're after... but ooh there's plenty! Give us a yell next time you come over, and we'll give you some tours to try in your hire car. Glad you enjoyed Playa Blanca! x

Girlzmum and abbecer - you'll have to meet up at the airport for a swift vino :rotfl:

  • We were thinking of going to Playa Blanca in Feb. I have not been there since 1992. I am sure I will see lots of changes !. I stayed at a hotel with blocks of rooms in the grounds. I think it was called The Corbetta, but I cant seem to find it anymore, does it still exist ?

Oh God Msmilano - you won't recognise the place! I am amazed how much it has grown in just 3 years...let alone 17!!
Yes the Corbetta is still going. I used to live just up the road from it.
    Come on over hon!

PS: Dave - have just asked Alan about that petrol station. He thought that the 3 buttons were 1, 5 and 10... or 1, 10 1nd 20. he can't quite remember for sure though. He said that to get 50 euros... you would press the 10 button 5 times BEFORE pulling the nozzle out of its holder to place in your petrol tank

  • Hi Elle, This is a great post. We are going to stay in the Lighthouse area of Playa Blanca, please let me know if you know te area? Any suggestions for family things around there? Many thanks
  • Hi there pid2004, and thanks for the compliments. The lighthouse area is at one far end of the resort... but you can easily get around to other areas, which will enable you to get to things to do that are mentioned in the article.

However... in Faro Park itself, you have a row of shops and bars.

Starting at the far right hand end as you face them is Le Moka. Dave and Marion are a lovely couple, and Alex the French pastry chef whips up the best fresh cakes and pastries fresh every morning. This is the best place to get your fresh bread, croissants and snacks every day.

Next door to there is The Snug, run by John and Julie. This is a cosy (as the name suggests) bar open mainly in the evenings. They have sports and soaps on the tellies. They also have regular games nights and events happening.

Then you have the Lighthouse Cafe - known for the best home made chips in the resort... and they do a mean breakfast too. All their stuff is home made, and they don't scrimp on ingredients. If you are missing a Sunday roast whilst away... this is the place to go to. They also have internet stations so you can come in here and post about what a great time you're having.:rotfl:

Then it's LJs bar... another cosy local's local. I'm afraif I've only been in once... so i can't tell you too much.

Then it's Port of Call - which is a bit larger than the Snug & LJs and again it serves up home cooked grub.

Also in that stretch are a couple of small supermarkets, but which are ideal for last minute essentials.

A taxi into town should be about 3 or 4 euros... or you can walk it in about 3/4 hour.

Head to the actual lighthouse itself for the best views of the sunset... if you can catch a red one it's breathtaking.

Hope that helps for starters pid2004!

PS: Dave - have had a look at the petrol stations. The first button is for a euro... the second is for 10 euros... and the third is to cancel or clear. Elle xx

Hi Kirsty & Pete - the Castillo hotel is a lovely one! Enjoy! Hopefully someone who has stayed there recently can give you some more speiic ino.

Hi Geoggy. I can´t recommend specific villas I'm afraid - but have a chat to Angela at Lanzarote Lates as mentioned earlier in this thread. She knows far more than I ever will, as it's her industry. Try areas such as Parque del Rey, and Los Calamares which both have villas suitable in size for you.
