Hi Elle we're off to PB in May and I'm wondering about the local markets, could you confirm when and where they are in PB please? Thanks.0

smallblueplanet - The best market on the island is on a Sunday in Teguise, you can book the bus to it online (click here) and it's incredibly cheap considering the distance, and the actual Market is amazing. Incredibly large, very easy to lose yourself (literally and metaphorically).
As far as markets within the resort, there's a market within the Marina Rubicon (east of the main town) every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 'til 2. For more info on that one click here
Enjoy Lanzarote. IMO, best of the Canaries.0 -
Thanks OTB - saved me a job.
Have a great time smallblueplanet

Thanks. I know about the Sunday market in Teguise but do not want to be battling with lots of people - is there another good day to visit Teguise?
Is the artisan market on Tues/Fri in PB worth a look? http://www.lanzaroteinformation.com/content/new-craft-market-playa-blanca
Also is the SARA car boot sale, Tahiche Garden Centre 9.30am to 2pm, on the second Saturday of each month, on on the 10th May and is it worth going to see?
Thanks for the info, am trying to decide on a shopping itinerary to fit in with sight-seeing and leave time to relax too!0 -
Teguise is very quiet on all other days. Note that it is Teguise, and not to be confused with Costa Teguise which is a different place. Buses aren't available there any day but Sunday... so you'll need a car otherwise.
Yes - nice to mooch around the Artisan market in CC Papagayo - if it is still going. There was some doubt before, but you won't waste time wadering down there anyway as there's always somewhere nice to grab a drink or bite to eat.
The SARA Boot Sale is exactly that - a boot sale. Might pick yourself up some goodies though.
Enjoy! xxI'm not easily distracted, I just... ... ... oh my god it's a puppy!!0 -

Yes, have car will travel...
But I don't want to go looking for something and find it's not on so I'll leave the market in Papagayo then.
Similarly is the SARA car boot definitely on - how big is it, do you know?
One more - have you been to Haria market on Saturday, is it worth the long drive from PB?0 -
Best to contact SARA direct via their website for up to date confirmation - http://saraprotectora.org/eng/
Don't worry, you can email in English.
I only went once or twice... it's a reasonable size.
Yes - the Har!a market is well worth a visit. Nice atmosphere. It isn't anywhere near as big as the one at Teguise - but we really like it. Nice to grab some tapas and do some serious people watching.

Thanks again. I know I said one more, but...Haria sounds good, can you recommend a tapas place - more local than tourist if possible.0 -
No worries. They are all pretty good... but watch out for steep tourist prices on the one on the left hand corner as you enter the market from the road. xI'm not easily distracted, I just... ... ... oh my god it's a puppy!!0
