Hi Ellie
If you are still around I was hoping you or someone else would be able to answer these questions. We are off to PB Costa Papagayo in April with a 3 & 5 year old. We are staying in Villa Sofia we booked through lanazarote lates (thanks for the advice).
Both our kids suffer from travel sickness quite badly and we have a 30+ min trip from Arrecife to our villa. Our intention is to relax around pool and beach so not site seeing.
Do we find appropriate shuttle ( in advance) to take us to the villa and back again with bucket in hand, any advice?
Or do we hire a car to get us to and from the airport? I don't think we will need it to get to the beach/groceries? We would need car seats for both kids upping the cost.
Basically can we do the 1 week trip without a car and if yes what company to choose to taxi us ( quickest, not stopping at every hotel!!)
Really looking forward to the holiday but not the sickness
Thanks

hi kate, i have never hired a car when in Lanzarote, but if you decide on a taxi transfer i can recommend http://www.lastminute-transfer.com/ we have used them quite a few times for airport transfers, we book online and pay on arrival0

Car hire is pretty cheap on Lanzarote and can quite often be cheaper than taxis - it's around 45 euros each way for taxis to and from the airport.
I always use Autoreisen or Cabrera Medina, two very good and reputable firms. Autoreisen in particular are great.
Just looked on their website and you can get a Seat Ibiza (for example) for 90 euros for the week, including child seats. The great thing about them is there are no hidden charges, what they quote is what you pay, not a penny more. No extra insurance charges, no fuel surcharges etc, it's all included in the price. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
Thanks Derwent! I know you weren't replying to me but we were just looking at car hire for our trip to PB in April and the place we were looking at were charging £40 for car seat hire.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0

That's good to know although the size of the car we may struggle with two large suitcases and 4 x hand luggage in the back from the airport? I will check thanks for the advice car seat extras are hideously expensive0 -

So just checked for April Easter holidays and looks like it is £129 for 7 days with a Seat Ibiza :0(
Its 40 euros return for 4 of us (SHUTTLE) with last minute transfer. Its no brainer especially if we don't need a car in Costa Papagayo.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions so excited for April0 -
hi kate, when we booked last minute we had a baby and a toddler with us, we made a request to last minute to ensure we would have the baby/child seats provided for them.0

Hi Elle.
First of all thank you for sharing such a thorough and helpful guide! My boyfriend and I are staying in Playa Blanca for a week at the end of April, and we have printed your guide out to take with us.
I just had quick question about the water-sports you mention at Playa Dorada: we (I say ‘we’, it is mainly ‘he’!!) are interested in trying out jet skis, and we have been looking for somewhere near where we are staying (VIK Club Coral Beach) but all the places we can find online are much further afield (Puerto del Carmen etc.), and we won’t have a hire car! Do you know if any of the places in Playa Dorada have a website we could look at or a contact we can make enquiries to? We’re mainly interested in how much it will cost and whether or not we’ll need to book! Sorry for the essay and thanks in advance for any help you can offer! Ellie

Hiya Ellie.
You are very welcome... I hope that you find it useful while away!
Coral Beach is at the opposite end of town to Playa Dorada... so quite a hike. You can walk along the Prom in about an hour... or head to the main road and grab a bus instead. What will be awesome though, are your views of the sunsets where you are staying. Enjoy those!!!!
I don't know of any websites for the jetskis in Playa Blanca... sorry! It doesn't mean they don't exist, I've just never seen one. I just see people heading there and hiring them on the beach itself. You won't need to book... but I'm afraid I don't have up to date pricing for it. They prices will be similar to Carmen though, if that helps at all.
There is a much nearer beach to Coral Beach... at Playa Flamingo. No watersports (unless you count scuba or snorkeling) though I'm afraid. Nice beach though!!!
Have an amazing time! the weather at the end of April should be fantastic... so don't forget your sun cream!
Elle x
PS: I am a bit of an "essay writer" myself - so don't ever apologise... ... ... I won't!I'm not easily distracted, I just... ... ... oh my god it's a puppy!!0
