To be totally honest I never really take much notice of my home insurance renewal - I just let it run.
This time, however, I couldn't help but notice it.
Get all my insurance policies with Direct Line, but after receiving my renewal I thought it was a bit high at £541. When I checked my policy it had increased by £120 compared to last year. The explanation I got when I called was that there had been a number of claims within my postcode - even though none of them were from me - and inflation !!! More inflation than a helium balloon!
I have only ever made 1 claim in 17 years so decided to look around.
After reading this thread I called Halifax and was dealt with by probably the best CS guy I have ever spoken to - he was human!
Got a quote of £327 - over £200 saving!!
And no interest on monthly payments either.
Cancelled my policy immediately with Direct Line and now plan to cancel all my other policies with them too.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.
You have saved me a bundle!0 -
