I am 23 and still get asked regularly, not a problem to me, I always carry it and they are only doing their job.

I was in a supermarket last year when they were selling fireworks, the woman in front of me got served and the guy behind the counter asked her if she had any ID to prove she was old enough to buy them. She pulled out a police warrant card showing she was 33 :D:D:D

Agree with Gordon, 23 and still being asked regularly.

Seems that in the last few years they have started asking if you look under 21, rather than under 18. Certainly I was almost never asked at 20 but very rarely do I get away without being asked now.

Aged 29, I was asked for ID to buy a bottle of wine... I said "well, you have to be over 18 to have a credit card, and that's how I'm paying". The response: "no problem, but we still need to verify your age".

So they presumably thought that I might be committing credit card fraud, but were only concerned with checking my age!?

The last time I went to the US with my family, my 50+ year old father was asked for ID to buy 3% abv beer. I've never seen anyone look so simultaneously bemused and delighted!

Never been asked.

I never tried buying it till I was 17 though, but never had any problems.

I think being 5'10 had something to do with it, I've never looked younger than my age.:rolleyes:

I'm 23 and rarely get asked now unless I'm going into a club. However, a couple of years ago I got IDd almost daily... including by people and venues I'd been going into no problem for years (from 16 - 19).... seems the challenge 21 message was getting through!

age 31, got asked twice in one day by the same person.
i complained the 2nd time because i found it ridiculous.
i know they're only doing their job, but i'm 31!!!

I'm 24 and I get asked for ID everytime I go to my local supermarket, yet in pubs/clubs etc I'm never asked. Doesn't make much sense to me!

My local Tesco has adopted a new policy of checking for ID if you look under 30. First time OH and I (both mid 20's) went in and had 6 bottles of wine with a big shop and both had to stop packing and get out photo ID before she'd put it through, luckily we both have photo driving licences and both had our wallet/purse with us and had seen a story about this in the local paper so were prepared but I bet it's caught lots of people out. The girl on the till said she knew we were mid twenties and I haven't been asked in a pub for years so it's not that we look younger than 21 - just 30 (and I should hope so too!)

Used to get asked all the time when I was 17 but I don't remember ever being asked when 18+. Think it's a confidence thing.
