hi there i work in a supermarket and we have just began askin for i.d if we think the person looks 25 or under (if you've got proof that you are 18 or over your laffin), but if we get the trading standards in usin "testers" and we dont ask, we (us as an individual) get the fine and risk losing our job, and im sorry, but if i think someone does not look old enough, no matter how much i get sworn or spat at (which often happens to all checkout ops) i wil id them as i will not risk losing my job for anyone.... people who are genuinely over 18 (and mature) are normally more than happy to show there i.d, its the 17 & under who get on the bus for half fare to get to the town and buy alcopops that cause the most trouble........ thank you for reading my rant......x0

I was asked for photo ID last week and I am 46
It was in St Louis airport in the US
Fortunately you tend to have your passport at the airport
Just for one beer (not a good one)

i've been asked once in my life, a couple of months after i turned 18 - having already been frequenting the establishment for 2 years. oh well
problem is if i were to get asked now, i don't drive and my passport is now out of date so i'm not sure what i'd do for ID. erk!0 -

Aged 29, I was asked for ID to buy a bottle of wine... I said "well, you have to be over 18 to have a credit card, and that's how I'm paying". The response: "no problem, but we still need to verify your age".
Don't know if you're aware of this, but any kid of any age can have a credit card. As long as the card holder, the person liable for the spending, is willing to pay then the credit card company will issue a card to that person. A lot of parents do this for their kids so they can spend what they like without the parent having to be with them, also very useful for kids at boarding schools.0 -
I started going out clubbing at 14, and was never asked for ID until one night when I was 22, picking up a bottle of wine from Tesco to share with my husband after a tough day's work.
The spotty youth refused to serve me.
Yes, I know he was only doing his job, but that knowledge didn't improve my mood!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I hadn't been asked for ID since I was 18 (one month after my birthday to be precise), until last saturday - when I was ID'd for buying my parents a drink. I don't drink alcohol myself, and they had just ID'd my younger brother (he's 18).
I don't carry ID with me anymore, so they refused to serve me - I'm 21  Needless to say - I gave my father the money to buy the round with, so I technically still bought the round :P0 -
The last time I went to the US with my family, my 50+ year old father was asked for ID to buy 3% abv beer. I've never seen anyone look so simultaneously bemused and delighted!
The one and only time i've ever been id'd was in Vegas a couple of years ago when I was 51. Can't remember my 2 twentysomething daughters being id'd in Vegas a couple of years before that though
Never been id'd in this country although I used to drink in pubs when I was 15.Same old same old since 20080
