In Florida a couple of years ago I got asked for ID in Busch Gardens (we were going into the bit where you can get the free beer and they do the tasting  ) and also a concert place where we were going to watch a punk band. I was chuffed to bits as I was nearly 38 and hadn't been ID's in years :rotfl::rotfl:
My OH says that in the States they have to type in the till the DOB of the person trying to buy alcohol so that's why they are so strict.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0 -
Last year I was doing the weekly shop with my 15 year old in Asda, and the only alcohol I got was 4 cans of Boddingtons. At the check-out the woman scanned the beers and said "have you got ID", I looked at her and said that the shopping was mine not my daughters and she said "yeah, I meant you love"
I was gobsmacked - I never thought I would be asked for ID at 38 !
I had to show the woman my driving license cos she didn't believe me0 -
I'm 23 and get asked maybe 50% of the time. It's funny, when I visited America they card everyone in a liquor store, even people who are obviously over 80!
And proudly I managed to buy a bottle of vodka in one of them without being askedI work for Post Office, feel free to ask me anything!0 -
I am 27 and i still get asked ID to buy cigarettes and alcohol. I do look 16, many of people have comented on how young i look.
I am always stopped on the doors to clubs/pubs and asked for ID. I had my 3 children with me, the eldest is 6, and i was still asked for ID in tesco.
Yes it will have its advantages in later life, as in i won't need any of these anti ageing creams, lol.. but right now, it is embaresing at times. I have to take my passport with me everywhere i go.0 -

The problem is the giant personal fine, the criminal record if a person under 18 slips through the net and the instant dismissal. because of this and the "Think 21" way of thinking at the moment I ask a lot of people for ID.
I have made many people blush and many people very angry, but I figure that if people kick off because they don't have ID then it is probably because they are not old enough anyway.
On the other hand I'm 22 and don't really get ID'd in clubs and pubs and such.
I agree, I think many cashiers ask for ID 'just in case'. Sometimes you're pretty sure they are over 18 but theres always that 'what if?' in the back of your mind, and the consequences are too big to be careless about it. My brother is 14 but looks in his mid twenties and never gets ID'd, yet I have friends in their thirties who look like young teenagers, so its easy to get it wrong, and I'd rather annoy someone by asking for ID than get fined and lose my job!If it hurts no-one, let it be :beer:0 -
1997 in Florida, we were both asked and took it as a compliment:beer:0

and an 80 quid on the spot fine if ur caught selling age-related products to those under age, if u contest the penalty you go to court and could face a 5 grand fine or if the judge is having a real bad day- prison.

19, get asked everytime I go out! Also they have been tighetning up in my local Litten Tree and wanting a debit card with your name on to go with the ID just incase its some elses. Pretty annoying to be honest, I waited til I was 18 before going into clubs, why can't others?0

I've never been ID'd for alcohol. I'm 24 but I look exactly the same now as I do on my driving licence which was taken when I was 15 or 16. It sickened my work mates when we were comparing photos of ourselves when we were younger but it means I'm paranoid everytime I try to buy some. It's strange really because I must look nervous as I'm at the tills and when the roles are reversed that's when I make certain that I do ID someone.
On a similar theme though, when I moved house a couple of years ago and went to register at the doctor's I was asked to confirm for them that I was over 16 despite my mum being there and us having just said that I needed to register because I was moving back home after uni.0 -
It's funny seeing this thread, as I got ID'd for first time in ages today whilst trying to buy some cigarettes at my local supermarket. I'm 24, so I gave a little chuckle when showing my ID. I then proceeded to help point out my brand to the bewildered clerk. In the confusion she forgot to ring them through the till with the rest of my shopping. I didn't realise till I had left the store and checked my receipt. Free Cigarettes!! I guess it pays to look young.0
