It doesn't kill head lice, believe me I have tried everything for my DD's nits.
It makes them slow down in their running about, so you can comb them out, but anything wet like conditioner or even water can do that.
However tea tree oil is a good antiseptic, make sure you dilute it with water.0 -
If you're buying pure tea tree oil, make sure you heavily dilute it before you use it.
100% pure tea tree oil is not really something you should be using on your skin.
Is this true? I thought tea tree oil was one of the few essential oils you could use neat on your skin? I used to have some pure tea tree oil from the body shop and it said to just apply neat onto blemishes...We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Vinegar is the best solution!!!
Its acidic and kills them instantly after combing out!
Im a hairdresser and recommend this to ALL my clients!0 -
I tried everything for my daughter's headlice and found that the only thing that cleared them was using a nit comb I got from the chemist - not the usual kind tho - it's got a long blue handle and metal teeth. It doesn't matter what you use with it, conditioner or water both work - it's the regular combing that makes the difference. I used it twice a day and it worked wonders.0

I was the lads hair ormal shampoo then rinse with vinegar then conditioner n put vinegar in it has kept the bliters away for long timeIt's an honour having such a lovely family and being welsh, what more could a girl want :rotfl:0

its costing me a blummin fortune
my son seems to pick up nits at school just about every 4 weeks or so, and i buy a bottle of stuff from the chemist and treat all of the family and change the bedding and so on .... i inform the school and they do absolutly nothing .not even a letter telling other parents one child has nits.
its so frustrating ..and it costs a b0mb , theres 5 of us so we buy the bigger bottle.
ive heard from another parent if you catch a live on on a peice of cellotape and take it superdrug they give you free treatment????
i dont know if this is true or not and would be very embarassed if i turned up with my nit and they said no.:o
sooo...does anyone no if this true so i can save myself some money?0 -
hi no im sure this cant be true , but i would try asking your g.p for a prescription . for head lice treatmemt , good luck0

If you havnt got one already i would say buy a "Nitty Gritty" comb these can be found by searching google or ebay, They are a bit pricey BUT are amazing!!!
I dont use chemicals! .. i wash hair put conditioner on comb thro and then use the comb .. this needs to be done every 3 days for a fortnight to break the cycle , and these combs DO also catch hatched and live eggs! most combs ive tried have left the eggs behind! ..
Hope this helpsHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
Hi,
I really sympathise with you. When my DD was at primary school she had them almost continuously for 3 years. None of the over counter medicines worked so in desperation i searched the internet for an alternative. This is what i did (and to my amazement it worked and she has never had them since!!) The following recipie can be doubled, quadrupled etc ( i had to double it as DD had long hair!)
100ml vodka ( can use veg oil but very messy)
10 drops tea tree essential oil
5 drops cinnamon essential oil (got mine from ebay)
Mix it all together and coat the hair in it. Wrap hair in either a towel or cling film and leave it on overnight. In morning wash hair as normal and go through with nit comb (dont worry if the odd few are still alive!).
Repeat on day 7, day 10 and day 21. After that child should be nit free.
Warning - the concoction does whiff to high heaven (for a couple of days after each treatment my daughter smelt like a hot cross bun!! ) but for my DD and recently my friends DD is has worked a treat. Give it a go - you've nothing to lose and it wont cost as much as a chemical treatment.0
