Does it actually work? How would you apply it? Many thanks from a long suffering nit pickerJuly Win: Nokia 58000

I just used to put a few drops in my hand and then rub it in the children's hair. The lice don't like the smell apparently.
You can get tea tree shampoo too. I used this along with combing conditioner through the hair after every wash.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Tried this years ago on my daughter and it reacted with her scalp and left her very sore for days, i now use the recomended method of swamping hair in very cheap conditioner and continually coming through till clear doing this nightly to remove any eggs that have remained, the actual lice dont like the conditioner as it makes the hair too silky and they cant get their grip.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

tea tree is a wonderful product and has natural anti-bacterial benefits. most insects do not like the smell so it is good for when travelling to places where mosquitoes can cause a problem. however, the smell can be a little strong. also, some blends can cause an irritation. australian bodycare do a range that is very good and escopia has got a tea tree liquid soap that are both good. failing that, i love neem - it has the same benefits as tea tree and more and is less strong in odour. bioforce do a brilliant shampoo that is great for everyone - not just for trying to get rid of lice - that gives a really deep clean but without any harshness. if tea tree has not worked for you in the past, check how it has been blended and either go for a preblended mix like austrailian bodycare or go for neem. Chuck some lavender essential oil on the scalp. It's slightly more soothing and the pesky critters seem to commit hara-kiri on contact - they just appear on the surface of the hair and lay there until you comb them out!
And it has the added benefit of calming a fidgety, irritable, nitty nora down for the extended period of combing. I use it as an easy way to check for illegal aliens on DDs' heads - much quicker than painstakingly washing and combing.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Yes the tea tree oil actually work on treat hair lice and other things for example wound some tea tree oil came in different brand smell too strong that last few days and made my daugther hair shiny and bouncy.:j0

By the way tea tree oil is 100% pure natural and kinder to hair lice treatment than chemist bought brand and you only use it once in a while and cant use it every time those nasty lice on the hair so tea tree oil can use at anytime. Neem are the same way as most indian ladies use Neem oil to treat for hair lice and keep thier hair shiny.
Neem oil can buy at barrett and holland, boots and superdrug but its cost lots of money. I bought tea tree oil from Asda and poundland.0 -
If you're buying pure tea tree oil, make sure you heavily dilute it before you use it.
100% pure tea tree oil is not really something you should be using on your skin.0 -
What can you dilute it with Marty? Olive oil?? ThanksJuly Win: Nokia 58000

The best thing to get rid of them is vinegar! pour it in wet hair & comb through!
Hairspray worn everyday is a barrier for the lice to cling onto!
