I've been wondering too.
It's got to be an ongoing process between yourself and your sdd's mum. I just hope you find a solution.0 -

Hi sorry i haven't been on this week. I phoned the doctors and explained about the situation as you have to have a reason before they give you an appiontment. My doctor (is wonderful i might've married him if he wasn't already married!) was just like 'well yes they get nits and there's only one way to get them out, do you want me to look at her' me: 'yes please' we get in there and he says right lets look. Turned my sdd round and he went 'wow that really is a good case isn't it' (he was shocked by how bad the it was) then he moved her hair and saw her excema and saw how painful it was. He decided the nits were causing the main problem so gave us a presciption (i think its only because it was so bad ) for nit lotion and a prescription for her excema which is alcohol based instead of a cream (which is what she did have) as creams matt her hair.
So Monday night we put the F/M lotion on sdd's hair and you have to leave it in overnight. Well you can imagine how bad the crying was she was nearly screaming but once it was on and she was calm it really was amazing. Within 15 minutes the nits were running up the the top of her head where the middle parting was and me and df started picking them out as they were so big! We put her to bed and 1 & 1/2 hours later she got up and i saw some dead nits on her PJs went to check her bed and it was covered in dead nits. My df spent over 20 minutes using sticky tape to get them off her bed! In the morning there were more!
You wouldn't believe the difference in her hair and that was before we'd washed it! my df spent 2 & 1/2 hours combing with conditioner and gots loads out.
We've been putting on this new alcohol based lotion on for her excema and it's fantastic. Tonight we've done the conditioner and the excema cream and her head is so clear and pain free. I was able to brush her hair this morning!!!!!!! I've been able to comb her hair quicker and quicker each day this week! We've told her mum what we've done and hopefully she'll carry it on. She says she couldn't cope with her crying when she toched her hair. Thankfully she was here this week and it's sorted, for now.
Thank you for all your advice, sorry this is so long i just wanted to tell you everything!0 -

i have to say it is amazing i really cannot believe the difference in her hair it seems to have thinned out and looks wonderful. Its been lots and lots of tears but we've got there. I'm so proud of her as it has been really painful but she can now see the results.0

awwww that is such good news :j I am so chuffed for the little girl, bless her. I hope the nasty nits keep away from her so se doesn't have to go through it again - washing with tea tree shampoo can help prevent it as they hate the smell and you can also mist her hair with a soloution of tea tree oil and water.

I used full marks shampoo when mine were younger( grown up now) I think the latest is to just comb out the nits with the use of conditioner. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0
