My step dd is 5. I've just combed her hair normally. No lotion on and just with a comb and she ended up sobbing and saying she missed her mum
she has never in the last (almost) 4 years said anything like that
i feel like i'm failing her because i'm making her hurt and we keep telling her not to scratch. Her head is covered in scabs and open wounds from where she is sractching.
I took her to boots and asked the pharmasist today and once he'd looked at the back of her head he said he wouldn't do anything and that we shouldn't use any cream or lotion on her head and we need to see the doctor asap.
I just feel so frustrated by the weekend as my sdd is in constant pain. We washed her hair with her lying in the bath and it still hurt. It is every time you touch her hair she jumps in pain.
I had a closer look at the nits and they are every where and there isloads of them. Her hair looks a shade darker (blonde) because of how many of them there are.
What am i supposed to do? SDD says her mum combs then brushes, then combs her hair again but i couldn't even finish combing her hair once as she was crying too much. I had to really stop myself from crying. I know i have to wait for the doctor but it seems ages away.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Oh and i'm getting married in less than 2 weeks so i'm sure we'll all have nits for the wedding day - joy0 -
Charlie - Get yourself a nitty gritty comb and some conditioner in, tea tree if poss, then at least you can be sorted for your big day. I found a few on me when mine were infested.
Your poor sdd, hopefully the GP will be able to help.
aliasojo - that's exactly what used to happen to me, I'd comb I thought everywhere, few hours later find some I'd missed. This only stopped when I got the nitty gritty lotion - Sorry know I'm harping on about their stuff.0 -
Oh the wee sausage--she must be in agony. Can you put some sort of non perfumed conditioner on her head and comb through. Its a shame shes not a boy and could shave it all off--i think I would do this with my child even if it was a girl. Sounds barbaric but so is being caked in sore and having nits.
Hugs to you allTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -
I can't even put her excema cream in without her crying so i have no chance of putting the conditioner in and combing. I feel so bad for her though. I just wish her mum would have done something before the nits were at the extreme they are at now.0

Its a shame she cant have some sort of sedation at the doctors while you do it. She must be in agony the wee poppet.TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

sedation sounds like a very good idea. I was thinking of just taking her to a&e but think they might just laugh at us. She is in sooooooooooooo much pain. All i want to do is take the pain away from her0

I would suggest it to them as otherwise she will never be free of them. Do you have out of hours that you can take her too? Maybe phone NHS direct and ask their opinion. She really does need to be seen soonTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

I think the idea of ringing NHS direct is a good one.:T especially if the poor girl is in pain.0

i think there is an out of hours that you phone for but i wouldn't have thought that they would do anything as its not an emergency or anything.0

Maybe then social workers might get involved with her mother for allowing it get this far.TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0
