I got the nitty gritty combs free from School nurse at the Docs, and they are great. Also wash hair and apply lots of conditioner, pref tea tree one (i think alberto balsam do one for 99p) and use the combs gets everything out do this every night for a week and repeat a week after and they will all have gone. Its hard work but better than using chemicals. They get immune to chemicals anyway and they dont always kill them.
Also keep using the tea tree shampoo/conditioner cos apparently they dont like the smell and will hopefully stay away from his hair in the future.0 -
My 3yr old daughter was the same, picked it up from nursery - chemical stuff didn't work so I washed and conditioned her hair and then loaded baby oil onto her head and nit-combed through.....the amount of eggs (and lice) that came out was just disgusting. I left it on overnight, washed and combed in the morning and we have had none since.
I do also use tea-tree spray on her hair now every day and her shampoo is tea-tree. I also check for lice every day (paranoid mother, especially as I know there are still some at nursery with them) but so far, 2 weeks on, we have been clear.0 -
licemeister (crud name i know) from america. i have 2 girls with thick long hair - the eggs drove me CRAZY - but this comb was the BIZ! most worthwhile investment on the web i ever made.

Yes when my son was little he come home from school his hair was covered and i agree i would only use conditioner with my son but when i was doing his hair i got them  But i used the same on my hair.
Good luck0 -
My daughter used to come home from primary school and infect the rest of us at home. I found that wetting the hair and applying conditioner (I used tesco value) and really lathering hair in it then just combing through starting at the bottom of the neck and doing small sections at a time. I repeated this every night or every other night untill all gone. Very time consuming but it gets rid of em.If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0

Someone on another nits thread suggested olive oil overnight. The !!!!!!s can't grip to the hair."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Yep - Olive Oil or Baby Oil works great....they just slip out when you comb it through0 -
I have a Nity Gritty and its great on my eldest who has really thick hair but doesn't work on my youngest who has really fine hair. Removes the live nits from both but leaves the eggs on the youngest. Have tried it with conditioner, olive oil and baby lotion, her hairs just too fine. Its much better than the cheap combs because the points don't hurt when you're using them.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
