I know how you feel about the weaning. I was one of those who could never feed in public, and felt it was a nicer bonding experience in private. some of the reasons were folk staring at your chest and trying to start up a conversation.
I admire anyone who can, though..My SIl had a baby last year (42) and doesnt mind at all, teenagers a bit disconcerted though as she is quite a hairy woman...too much info, i know! he loves to flash his mum, and they probably see too much than is comfortable at their age. Not that it should matter, and he is a beautiful thriving 1 year old, an absolute perfect advert for the benefits of breast feeding.

I would encourage anyone to go as long as they or the baby feel comfortable.

Thanks Bob, I always found people would either avoid looking at me altogether, or be really over-familiar, as if they were trying to prove they didn't mind me feeding her....lol. I only fed her in public if there was no other option though, because like you I thought it was easier and nicer in the comfort of my own home. Plus I could post on here with my free hand while I was feeding her.....very important!!! :D

Ouch, they are hurting a bit now! :o

There are advantages then, as in you can post and gossip at the same time..wonderful.
Re the teeth oouch, i remember my first nip..cringe in sympathy.
I think when i was weaning i used to put some soothing packs on..can't remember now, lots of old wives tales about it all..and it is doubly sad in another way. x

TMI alert!!! I stopped BF before the teeth came, so missed all the nips! My milk dried up fairly quickly, although I did find that one of the ducts got blocked (right behind me nipple) and it was agony! When I realised what it was, I expressed under a hot shower until it was unblocked.....

Congrats on BF for so long, I loved it and still miss it now (DS is 15months, and I stoped at 6) but it wasn't practical with me going back to work full time, and I was never very good at expressing!

I too loved BF but didnt do it for long-I blame my debt becasue I was back to work a week within giving birth both times (ok, hormonal moment coming on!) I really wish I could have that time back-I sometimes wish I could have another baby just so I could FINALLY relax and enjoy the first few months, and BF for as long as I wanted...

Awwww (((hugs))) Bunny - it must be hard to feel like you have missed out, but you have such a lovely relationship with your children, so you obviously made (and continue to make) the very most of the precious time you did/do have with them.

Ouch Sarah, that sounds painful. I think I might have a bit of a blockage starting, which is worrying as I'm also hopeless at expressing! :o

Ooops, my thread has been rather weighted in the favour of boobs today, rather than budgetting! :D

I jumped into the thread just before this point and read this post soooooooooooo wrong.............I read it as not letting boyfriend (BF) anywhere near you for 15 months in the boobies area until the babies teeth were through and had stopped biting you and congratulations for him being able to refrain for 15 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'll go away now...........ahem........:o

Well I can sway you over to biscuits :rotfl:, making our own cookies today cos i am teaching Dd at school for the time being.

Re. Oh's and boobs mine is fascinated how quickly they grow during pregnancy! Well this is HIS first child so i will excuse him i suppose. And it's free entertainment! BTW moneysaving boob tip figleaves were cheapest for feeding bras, and primark sports bras for maternity bras, only £4 each and the most comfy ones I have got so far!

Oh dear i got back on to boobs again.

    i'll just get my coat...
