AFAIK the statment does not have to be completed but is optional.
If you have other supporting medical evidence then dont worry about it, just send it off.
Oh really? I hadn't realised that - I just presumed that if you didn't get it completed, they would reject your claim.

I will have a look into that, thanks.

To be honest, the money isn't important - if Ryan needs something because he has Aspergers then we will find a way, DLA or no DLA - but for some reason, getting DLA makes it 'official' for lots of purposes, and it will mean it will be slightly easier for him to claim it in his own right, once the time comes (or so I'm told anyway).

On a slightly lighter note, this is a photo my Dad emailed me from Natasha's party, which shows Ryan explaining how Natasha hurt her leg....:rotfl:

If you want any help on that front, i have been filling them in for my daughter all her life. A supporting statement can come from a health visitor as well as all the other evidence you can gather from school etc. You can also leave that bit blank and they will send to the person you name to provide a statement.

It is horrible that you have to pigeonhole a bit in order to get the appropriate services, as how do you quantify a unique, loving individual! But it will provide a bit of a cushion for him when he gets older. The sooner you get it in, no matter how long the decision takes, they will backdate it to that point.

    Good luck BOB X

That's great, thanks - I will get it printed off (it's on a PDF on the pc) and sent in then, along with copies of the reports, and just give them my Dad's name to contact if they need a 3rd party statement.

Please keep kicking me up the bum if I haven't mentioned it being all done and dusted by next weekend!
