    Helloooo lovely Bunny lady :)

It's quite a nice drive from here to where you are too (as long as I have the satnav so I don't get lost).

What a great idea - let me know when you're next coming up Bunny, and I will hype Ryan up a bit for the few days beforehand. :rotfl:

He was actually demolishing the house for so long today that I nearly got the camera out and filmed it, just so I could show the doctor - but of course the battery was flat.

The tantrums are only a small part of his difficulties though - the main problems are the social skills and empathy (or rather lack of), and the problems with communication (his speech is amazing - well beyond his years actually - but his understanding is often well below what you would expect of such a bright boy).

To give a small example - usually if he is in the shower, I would say 'wash your hair', and it would take him a looooong time to do it. After discussions at the course on Tuesday, I said 'pick up the shampoo.......open the lid.......squeeze some onto your hand.......rub it into your hair.........' etc, and he followed the instructions far more quickly, because he didn't need to take as much time to process the very small chunks of information I was giving him.

Phew, I'm glad it makes sense to someone other than me!

And no, 2 weeks of lovely, calm behaviour was great. :)

I have an ex-student doing something with hedge funds I don't have any concept of, he doesn't need empathy, his lack of it means he doesn't get drawn into ego based, emotional decisions or petty office politics. He'll never try drugs, he'll never shag some else's wife. Can't wash his own pants had to have a cleaner from the college help him each week but his £1million+ salary means he's nicely set up in Bayswater with a housekeeper  Not getting emotionally involved isn't necessarily a bad thing.... it's just a different normality - and he's happy, it's just different. School is the worst environment because it's one size but it's good preparation for the later easier bit.

Yes, there are some pretty amazing Aspies out there earning massive salaries precisely because of their unique perspective and talents.

Ryan wants to be an architect (or a timelord...) and I can see him being very good at that type of thing. He builds amazing models, so intricate and imaginative, and his maths and computer skills are a bit scary!

Even the less talented one tend to do quite well in the real world - touchy feeliness is a very modern concept. There are a wealth of careers out there he won't be exposed to - if he likes building models or engines etc there's a wealth of civil and structural engineering opportunities (sewers/bridges) or CAD work (engines/designing kettles etc) ranging from technician level to technical director.....
