Congratulations on doing the race! It sounds like you really pushed yourself to achieve your goal.
About the tattoo ... this is going to make me sound like a Moaning Minnie, but didn't you just treat yourself to a new guitar? And a Wii not long ago? Are they all paid off and sorted? Should you wait to get yourself straight with them before you spend out on another big purchase?0 -

I have to say.. I kind of agree. At least wait a while before getting the tattoo... *waits for rotten tomatoes to come flinging towards her*Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I think the lady has her debts sorted out and is in control to be honest. Life is too short (as Immoral knows) to be beating yourself up about every penny you spend. From what I have read I am sure she will have a plan of action soon ready to pay them off.
And she has done amazingly well so far and leads the field IMHO of repaying debt and setting challenges for herself and her family.0 -
In fairness IA I think you deserve the tattoo - it was your reward for reaching your goal and you achieved it. Beating yourself up about spending the £180 on it is understandable but simply wrong. Look back at where you've come from and where you are now - you have made huge strides - you know what you owe will be repaid - if anyone can do it you can! Take care.

But no I see what you're saying. The difference between the bass and the tattoo is that the bass went on the credit card whilst the tattoo will be cash. You are right.. we should pay off the debt first... but to be fair recently we've been enjoying just not worrying about the debt. It's under control and not pushing us over the edge as it was before. Ste has a credit card and I have a credit card, then there's the tv finance and the car hp. That's all we have now compared to the 11+ debts we had a couple of years ago. Now we're under control and can afford to service the debt we're relaxing a little and trying to enjoy our lives again, and give ourselves little treats, now that we're in a better position to be able to afford it.
I know it's not very MSE, and for me the tattoo is going to be my last treat before I get back on the rocket wagon sorting the debt out again.
I hope that makes sense and doesn't sound too selfish or anything.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Is the debt really under control at the moment though?
I think it's slipping from you again.
A few months ago the plan was that by now you would have paid off everything and just have the car loan left, and be saving for the TV.
Then the plan was that you would have paid off everything and just have the car loan left and have paid off or almost paid off the 0% loan on the TV.
Now you haven't started saving for the 0% TV loan and you're looking to transfer it to a 0% credit card. You still have the car loan, you have two credit cards on the go and you're considering spending £180 on the tattoo.
How did you end up with 11 sources of debt in the first place? I'll bet you deserved everything you bought yourself on the way to that too. . .
I think the tattoo should be a treat for when you're back to the car loan only.0
