Right, the bills account budget is all set for the year including car items like tax, insurance etc

Annual BT line rental has just been paid for the year in advance and I renewed my contents insurance last month and all paid for.

The next 'big/one off' payment is the car insurance which is about 8 months off so all good there

It was a great feeling to reset the various accounts last month and start again from the year

On the savings front things things aren't too brilliant but I do still have the £2500 in the N@tinwide Flex at 5%. I think that rate ends early April and then will go straight into this years ISA

I don't usually mention my investments here as they don't really feature in my MFW plans so just a quick nod to them here for the start of the year whereby as we speak they are worth £73,340 so ticking along nicely after some worrying times when the crisis hit

Just made my first OP of the year :j Just £200 for now and hope to send another c.£300 within the next month

All credit cards at zero including my work credit card though I do need to chase why my latest expenses have not been paid as they seem particularly late this time month

Enough petrol in the car for at least a month and any real travel will be for work so covered by expenses

I had thought today would be a NSD but need to pop out for some nibbles for a few guests this evening. Not the sort of thing I normally buy or bake so no ingredients at home. Hopefully will come to less than £10!

Also just paid £190 for a quick trip I'm having in August, unfortunately it all had to be paid up front as I had hoped they would just take a deposit for now

I'm definitely coming towards the end of spending on the house now, think I have got less that £500 to go now and that will come out of this months pay and next.

Once that is done I should be able to return to BAU OP's and aiming for a monthly minimum of £613.45

Nice lunch today of Sunday lunch LO and dinner currently defrosting from freezer re HM batch cooking affair ;)

Only minor annoyance on the horizon is likely visit to dentist which could prove costly, I've already had £100 of emergency treatment last month but I'm now sure it hasn't really worked so will need to get that sorted

Hope you are all having a good day

Well the wee bits in the shop came in at £4.99 so not too bad

I've also remembered that my Amex card is £60 in credit due to me paying the balance and then taking something back that i'd been wavering on so will have to make sure to use the Amex next rather than a diff card

I'm working from home now more than usual and this is likely to continue. It's really hard to keep my office warm so i'm trying a different approach for month; i'm going to use an electric fan heater as and when I get cold instead of having any heating on in the house at all. I'll review after the month and see if the electric is cheaper than gas

On that note my gas tariff is due to end this month so really need to spend some time on that. No doubt I won't end up shifting providers as I hear to many tales of woe with this and never convinced the promised benefits ever really transpire but happy to hear from any of you who have a different story to tell?

  • Just taking a sneaky 5 mins out of work as a t-con has finished early and i'd like to try and post a bit more regularly :o Been on them since 7.30 and will be right through until 5

Work is crazeeeee at present and I'm working ridiculous hours with every day leaving me feeling drained and a very bad head

Today will be a NSD and as ever, HM lunch busy defrosting as we speak.

Accounts looking healthier than they have done for some time so good to see the balances creeping back up which is the direct opposite of what they have been doing for a few months now! My expenses have also finally been paid so all good there and money in my current account as I've already paid the work bills they related to

I've also now sorted the YB account for a family member, 4% on £3k for a year with the usual £1k in and out a month. I may think about opening one for myself in a couple of months time

    Have a good day all

So I typed quite a long post first thing this morning and then lost it, this site does drive me mad sometimes when it does that

I knew I had about £500 left to spend on the house and today paid £206 for an item so not much left to go. Aside from that (!) it's been/will be a NSD for me

    Todays money successes
    • A small refund I've been waiting for has finally arrived (charged in error)
    • Errm, not much else!
    Current money worry beads
    • BTL owes me £1500, I 'can' afford it but still a pain in the bum and will take some time to recoup
    • Still not researched a new gas tariff
    • Need to review BT bill, far higher than normal (hardly use a landline) and I also was too late to react to a BT email advising that they were implementing charges for 1571 and caller display

  • That's so frustrating. I had a period of that about eighteen months ago and in the end I used to type on an email, then copy across.

Hope all is good your end.

Hi Tilly, great to see you

Yes, I've done posts on email/word in the past when I've lost confidence in the site but then when I don't do that and lose a post I end up annoyed with myself for not having done it elsewhere in the first place:rotfl:

I'm good thanks in general but work is killing me, 50 hours weeks are just the norm and not something I really think about but the last few weeks are hitting 60 and 70. The

The sheer volume and scope of work is just relentless and I think it's the latter aspect that's the hardest to bear when there is literally no small reprieve windows in sight

Really sorry to hear about your family loss so hope you are all bearing up as well as you can; I know you'll all be of great support to each other once your mother returns to live with you

You need a holiday hun working that hard! Is there any chance of your working hours reducing to something more sustainable?

Thanks SmlSave, my next 'booked off' days are three months away though not to say I can't book off other, gawd knows I've got enough to take off still, got the November last years with 20 days of that years allocation still to take

Got a couple of big projects running off over the next month of two but the nature of the beast is that others will replace them, do have a couple of encouraging irons in the fire though which should hopefully balance workloads a bit but will be a phased approach...

Hope you are doing well SmlSave, not long now till we welcome the next Smallet into the world :j
