So that was house and now on to work
Things are so hectic and I'm doing ridiculous hours but it's a new job and I expect that for a while
I must day despite what seems to be hundreds of problems it feels like a long old time since I felt this motivated about work and I might even go so far as to say it is very exhilirating at times
Lots of travel to do this week too so I thought I'd better get myself on here to do my MFiT T2 update as it's due by to-morrow and I can't access the google docs form from work systems
I've reported a figure of £67, 247 which means £18,000 paid off since i started (I only do my IO part as the MFiT T2 challenge) so I'm £23,000 (yes, it does say £23,000 ) behind my stretch target so here comes the excuses :rotfl:Unexpected tax bill of £5k paid, almost £10,000 built up in savings, a few expensive holidays (3 not planned for!) and approx £5k repaid to credit cards so when I put it like that then it helps work out where the £23k has 'gome astray'. That of course doesn't help to much when I have a MF date in mind!
I've had an excellent month on the money front, odd really as I haven't done anything different (though must have!) yet seem to have c. £600 left. I've tracked everything, nothing is outstanding that I need to pay for, credit cards are at nil so the £600 is a lovely suprise but just shows the legroom I still have
I also made extra Op's this month on top of my usual £500, the £76.18 cashback from Amex and £30.59 from Topcashba#k
Right, now off to have a quick peek at a couple of other diaries and a long overdue hello to Tilly and Billy (lol, that rhymes) now that the latter has resurfaced with some tales of promotions, being busy and holidays
Regards

Hi ATT, sounds like your weeks are flying past. Lovely to hear the motivation in your words.
Well done on the clearing and sorting. I find this extremely therapeutic and DD and I have sorted our toiletries again and have re-shared them to use up before the end of the year.
Your financials sound under tight control but I wouldn't expect anything less
Have a good but no doubt manic week

I'm finding the "no buying toileteries" challenge really helpful. Sorted, listed and reporting used up items (UUs). Since making the inventory I've thought twice about wandering round Boots and using the vouchers they send me in the post.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
and isn't it surprising how much stuff we all have? Since starting this I can now see the contents of the cupboard under my basic, rather than have a cupboard which is heaving :T2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Yep it's a win, win situation - thorough declutter that saves money. I even arranged my cupboard into rows of similar items (shampoo, shower gel etc.) so it's like shopping. Now I'm only replacing when I'm down to the last bit of the last bottle. Somethings I'm not even bothering to replace... do I really need eye cream, wash off fake tan and wrinkle fix?!?!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Definately Tilly, I too find it very therapeutic! I've also been helping my mother to do loads of sorting out at her house with the garage being a particular focus. This is about the 5th 'garage sort' in 18 months, again, it's not that it's untidy on first glance, just big with too much storage for things to hide behind! Why does it feel so much more energising and easier to sort other people's [STRIKE]cr%p[/STRIKE] less wanted items out
I finished another little jar of face cream yesterday, or how I love it when that happens, another one gone and safely in the recycling :T

Hi there MRN, grrr, I know, those little vouchers they send in the post are almost as bad as the £5 No 7 ones they give you just after you have bought some stuff that you could have got with the voucher! I've got wise to that now and ask before I start what vouchers I will get, then I arrange any shopping in two batches in order to use the voucher I get at the end of the first batch on the second!
Mind you, I don't do that much shopping and I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I've had to buy two lunches this week and got the B00ts meal deals (which I really like) and rememberd to use my A points to buy them with

lololol, I kept looking in one of my bathroom cupboards that I'd sorted almost to just to admire it, is that wrong :rotfl::rotfl:Mortgage_Reduction_Novice wrote: »Yep it's a win, win situation - thorough declutter that saves money. What a great analogy MRN, thinking of you cupboard shelves like supermarket shelves, I like it! I tend not to bulk buy too often but although I like a bargain sometimes you end up with multiples and wonder where you are going to put it allMFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

So, who is ready to hear about another tax problem? Anyone? No?
Well, here it is anway... I got an updated tax code during August and yip, you've guessed it, it was wrong. They had managed to capture two of the three figures from my latest P11D but the biggest/most important one was missing!
I called them and it was a relativley painless process to give them the correct figure though very annoying that they could not even offer a simple apology, particularly as they have clearly had the P11D or they couldn't have got two of the figures right.
Yesterday I received the updated one and to my horror it suggests that I may owe £1183 by the end of the tax year due to the wrong one being used since April this year. I've checked previous tax codes, the numbers and my pay slips and if I've got it right I certainly don't/won't owe any money as it was correct January (when the last saga was sorted) to July this year and the August pay slip was still showing the correct one so presumably they hadn't had time to react to the change.
So, I get paid next week and I guess there is a small chance that work will have then changed it to the incorrect August updated one so worst case scenario is that I will only owe one months
You'd think it would be a simple matter for them to see that I hadn't underpaid before they start and put the wind up people like that.
So, I must find time this week to ring them again to check the state of play just for my peace of mind :mad:MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18
