  • Thanks SMF2, I love your cliparts and you always seem to find really appropriate ones - I don't know how you do it. I've started the phone thing - rang provider up yesterday to see what deals they can do - I wasn't that happy so have said I'm going away to shop around - I've now done that so can do part two of the plan and ring provider back saying I'm planning on leaving if they can't do a better deal - I don't know if you ever look at the mobile phone thread on here but they have a good thread on retention deals that people have secured so I'm going to try my best and follow their advice although quite honestly I really wouldn't want to leave my provider as I've always had great service and I have left them a couple of times before years ago and anlways gone back:rolleyes:

  • Grr, I'm feeling really antsy this week - you know the feeling you get when it's not quite yet time to make an OP (aka as not having the money yet!) and you've reviewed all your bills and suppliers, made changes and are now looking around and thinking 'what else can I do to help the plan'.....

I do know that I have several things to ebay but I need to have a rummage first - I've only sold things on ebay a couple of times and both times have waited for a free listing day so I guess I should start the rummage now so that I'm prepared for the next one.

Anyone else feeling like this at the minute?

By way of trying to cheer myself up I did 'SPREADSHEET, THE RETURN!' last night aka spreadsheet number two so that I can start and plan OP's on the BTL

  • Right, got mobile phone sorted - I called their 'thinking about leaving line' and I'm really pleased with the deal I got in terms of minutes and texts and upgraded phone and the new phone will be with me by Thursday.

If I ever find my cable that belongs to my current phone I can transer the information across and sell the old phone.

The whole new phone process was very easy, too easy in fact and now makes me wonder whether I should have pushed for more perks:o

smiley%20bravo.gifWell done on sorting out the phone :D
  • Well I've signed up for a Br Gas maintenance cover policy this morning. It's £12 a month and covers boiler, central heating controls, radiators and an annual boiler check. I've opted to pay a £50 fee/excess on any repairs required as without it it would have been £17 a month and I figured that if I could go 10 months without a callout it would pay for itself.

Now, why have I taken the cover and increased my monthly outgoings when I'm trying to reduce them. My boiler is only two years old and doesn't get much use with me working away, however, there I have had some problems in the past which the builder has dealt with and my neighbours have had many more problems, some of which are still ongoing 2 years after we all moved in. I never would normally dream of covering such a new boiler however, in view of history and other neighbours I think I'm doing the right thing:rolleyes:

Sounds a sensible move to get the cover in place for the boiler & heating.
    Well done on the 'phone.

I concur with you on the "wanting" the money to arrive to sort OP etc; OH is paid 15th of the month (so this week should be there on Friday :T) and me on 26th. Credit card payment left current a/c on Monday, so the monies are at their lowest (or rather will be tomorrow as the S&S ISA investments leave the account then) and thus minimises the offset, meaning we're now paying an effective interest rate of 1.18%

I don't like wishing time away so the pay days arrive, but it's difficult not to as you want to update the spreadsheets :o

What make and type of boiler is it?

Hi SMF2, it's a Keston C36 combi-boiler which an engineer tells me is a fab boiler although on average about 50% more expensive to install than comparable boilers. In theory the boiler should be fine but still have the concerns around it's fitting and installation
