    Hi all

I've just updated my signature so I can finally see the IO part start with an 8 instead of a 9:j . The overall total is currently £180, 324 so not far off that changing to have a 179 in front of it so that will be another great milestone for me. I've still not updated the daily interest in my signature as I wanted to do that from my mortgage statement instead of my figures but I'll quote it here for future reference purposes for me.

This month the repayment part daily interest is £4.98 and the interest part is £4.97. I anticipate this will change to £3.72 and £3.70 next month.

Sorry folks, I think this is me having a multiple post session - ooh er missus:p

At long last the gas situation is sorted and from now on my bills will be my own! They have also agreed £50 compensation which I think is a pittance for the months of months of aggro and countless hours of my time but I'm relieved it's all sorted now although I am going to ask my neighbour for copies of his bills as I want to check the amount they say I'm in credit by...

Impressive data for the proportions you are paying in, hope you have some reserve for fun left!

Good to hear gas is resolved but that compensation looks derisory; why not send them a letter noting estimate of number of calls made, man-hours spent addressing it etc and offer that they consider £20 per hour etc to derive a more realistic offer? You can't lose anything, but you may not want to cash their £50 offer initially.

Thanks Stuart, yes, I'm pleased with the proportions that have gone to the mortgage but would still like to see it higher. I'm just busy working out how much goes to the other bills, utilities etc so I can get a full picture of committments v. salary.

Hmm, fun *thinks hard to remember what word means*. I go skiing in less than 5 weeks so I've got that to look forward to and yesterday I had a bit of a clothes splurge - which is a rare occassion as I don't enjoy shopping - and spent £100 on clothes and a pair of shoes, some of the clothes and the shoes are for work and some clothes for my hollies. I also bought a playstation game that would normally be £40 but I got it for £25 through and offer on at Sainsbury's.

Re the fun thing - it's not so much paying the mortgage that stops my fun, it's more the fact that I work away all the time and when I'm at home at the weekends all I really want is peace and quiet:rolleyes:

I agree but it's already been an almighty fight to get them to £50, they also say it is not policy to compensate for time although they do compensate £20 if a Br Gas employee does not turn up for an appointment at a persons home and it is this last that got me up to £50. To be honest as much as I 'enjoy' a good 'fight' with theses situations I also realise how much of your energy and time they consume and I'm just about out of fight with this one so at the minute I'm just about tempted to draw a line under it as much as I think it should be far more than £50; I know the company I work for would shell out £50 for a far lesser situation

Just looking at my S&S and I see I said this 8th October 2008
The shares (5kworth ) I bought have gone down a wee bit but I'm not concerned yet as i'm looking at a 6-8 month time frame for the return.

Well, i'm still not concerned but...... that 5K is now worth £1300:o

Yes, the markets have fallen significantly from October, and this year looks like much the same (but I'm not going to "predict" a bottom to the market). Our funds still remain 46% down despite monthly additional investments.

    Hi all

I don't seem to be getting on here much lately, work is always busy but even madder than usual at the moment and I've had lots of stuff to do when I've been at home. I can see new diaries and old favourites popping up all over but I just haven't had the time to read them :o

I've just come off the phone from Barclaycard as my card was declined twice this week for no apparent reason. They can't tell me why either apart from the old 'there must be something wrong with the merchant's machine' line.

I've not been at all happy with barclaycard since they took over from Goldfish but as I have a very high limit I'm not inclined to close the account just yet.

I got a £5 credit from them by way of an apology and time spent on the phone.

I've just signed up for BT paperless billing as it saves £1.25 per month, however, they are putting the line rental up by £1 per month so only a 25p per month real saving...
