I've done a bit more research into my BT price plan - I currently pay £12.92 for line rental and the plan I was on - it turns out that you can get the same plan for £10.27 per month so it was worthwhile looking into it. I've just swapped to the new plan which will be effective from to-morrow so that means a £2.65 saving per month / £31.80 per year :T

Yay to base rate change :j :j This means that tht from March I'll be paying 1% interest. It also means that the rate will drop on my BTL so I think I wil be able to start OP'ing on it sooner this year than I thought.

On the downside the interest rate mean that my stooze money isn't doing very well. Some of it - 4k - is due to be paid back this month and some more in July then the rest in September. Once it is all re-paid I don't currently plan to stooze any more for a while.

Now off to the bank to pay in £80 of cheques that have been in my purse for two weks - not very MSE I know

Good to hear of the benefit from the cut; also if you can start pulling down BTL it must be good as I think we'll see interest rates jump in 2010 once inflation ramps up and the BoE tries to control inflation via increased base rates (unless you think deflation will occur, but I don't because we import so much and Sterling is weak....)

Well I've re-paid one of my stoozes this morning - £3800 and on't have to think about the next one until July. I had 'borrowed' a bit of my stooze money when I changed cars at the back end of last year so now I'm paying that back into my saving account. I'm a bit narked really as if I wasn't doing that I could OP more to the mortgage, hey ho I suppose - can't have it all ways:rolleyes:

Next thing I must do is see about changing my mobile as it's really on it's last legs and not only am I scared it will die (I've gots lots of info on there!) but for the last two months it has reverted to a higher tariff so I must get onto supplier and see what they can do.

Will be having a look soon and of course updating here :D

    • Total o/s balance £181,080.96
Having looked at my mortgage statement I've amended the above figures that I stated a few post ago. It turns out that I ended 2008 owing £464.46 less than I had thought. When I compared my spreadsheet to the mortgage statement I could see that when I ring C&G every month for a balnace they have been including the interest due for that month in the balance they gave me even though I hadn't paid it yet IUSWIM. This meant that there was a bit of double counting going on but to my advantage.;)

My stretch target for last year was to get the IO part down to 90K so I can see now that I only missed it by £422.29 so I'm really pleased. :j
