Just noticed there is another post on her diary, apparently her 'media blitz' begins next week. I don't think this is really my cup of tea.

I just wonder what is wrong with making money through wierd and wonderful ways? I think if you're in debt you want to clear it as quickly as possible through any way you can...
This has been a very good site for me actually. I've read through lots of the info and have written lots of things down to put into practise.
I'm not sure why the idea of making money through ways other than saving from your annual salary offends people so much... Surely a 'debt free wannabe's main objective is to clear their debts? And that's what I'm trying to do.

I think you are taking a different approach that we normally see on the Debt Free Wannabee thread. Getting out of debt and staying out of debt requires self-education to live within your means. Your approach doesn't seem to do that, and I think that's why people are a bit suspicious.

Where are you reviewing your monthly budget? What economies are you making? How are you changing your spending habits? What lessons are you learning? What changes have you made? What changes have you tried and they haven't worked for you? These are the key revelations and changes for debt-free wannabees and you don't mention any of them.

Whatever, I wish you luck, and hope that you get debt-free and stay that way.

    Best of luck.
If it was easy, everyone would do it!

The thing is without knowing more details it's hard to advise. We might be able to tell you where to cut down on certain things or get them cheaper and then you wouldn't have to spend the next year doing loads of extra jobs to net you the £10,000 you need.

I saw martin do his slot on This Morning a few times and after a short while going through the peoples stuff-he used to show a wad of cash where he'd found they could save in a year. For example I once saw him find that the couple concerned hadn't applied for their tax credits which had recently come out -so straight away he'd found them £545.

Onegirl - I think we're all a bit suspicious of your motives:-

    A) Because you haven't told us where the debt has come from
    B) Because you haven't told us your salary or your outgoings
    C) Because the whole "bet" thing is very vague - who made bet what you are risking etc etc
    D) You aren't being very forthcoming

Everyone on this site shares - and it seems that you are really just trying to look for the quick way out - which believe me if there was one - this site wouldn't be half as popular. The only real and truthful way to pay off debt is to save more earn more work more.

Also your site is very ambiguous - you do seem to be saying "I don't want handouts" (but if anyone is willing to give me one then I'll snatch their hand off for it)! You also seem to be looking for glamorous ways to make money - either by travelling or going on tv or doind your "media blitz". None of this seems very sincere - probably because you haven't given us any background information - so nobody believes you.

I've noticed that onegirl's website claims the bet is to have 10k sitting in the bank. If she has debts of 10k already, surely then the bet is to make 20k - 10k to pay off the debt, and 10k savings?!
  • i think onegirl has been to visit the save karyn site or read the book and thought ooooooohhhhhhhhh i can do that!! and had a very poor attempt at recreating it.
  • Any more one-girl news?

Just wondered how she is getting on.

    :)
