Is it possible to clear £10,000 in one year?

  • Hi, why don't you list your outgoings and incomings. People here are really fab at finding 'extra'. (changing suppliers, giving up that daily coffee etc, making food rather than buying ready prepared etc) and they will help you to find that 'extra' to throw at your debt. (You may think it won't work, but list EVERYTHING - I can practically guarantee that someone here will find you an extra 50 quid a month to use towards the debt) If you're not using your salary I don't understand how you possibly think you will pay this off, unless uyou have 10,000 worth of stuff to ebay. Don't think of it as using your salary - if you cut back on other stuff that you would have been spending out of your salary then technically you found the money elsewhere, hope that makes sense!!! Good Luck!!!

Yeah, I'm still baffled on this 'not using my salary' thing. As BBB said above if you saved £50 off your electric bill, would that be allowed? Onegirl, care to clarify this as well?

I have these suspicions too. However I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt, mainly as the website does not ask for money. The OP may come back with valid reasons for these stipulations.

Is this something that is on every day? I must record it whilst im at work - i LOVE shows like that - as well as Bank of Mum and Dad (gutted thats finished).

These programmes definately keep me on the straight & narrow.

I like the programme, but I do think they choose the participants wisely. There's frequently adult children or older teenagers there who can get a part-time job, often have jobs where they can do overtime, aand often have a skill to offer.

I've never seen an episode where there's a SAHM to 2 pre-schoolers, and Dad gets paid same regardless of whether he's in office all week or out on business trips all week and either away or arriving home late each evening. However I haven't seen every episode so maybe I'm wrong.

To the OP-I'm also interested in why you can't use your salary-realise it makes us all very suspicious but wonder if you could explain. Thank you.

Tinalives - Thanks for the reply and I can understand why you might be suspicious, but I have to say that I think you're being really harsh.

I think learning html, setting up a website, replying to peoples e-mails every night and exploring every idea I am given is actually very motivated.

My salary goes towards keeping up my monthly repayments, which are set at all I can afford from what I earn. That is why I want to make the money outside of my salary. Of course I am trying to budget my usual spending - I have been for a long time, but it isn't enough.

So onegirl, if someone could help cut your outgoings, would that be a valid way to help pay off the debt as part of your bet?

  • Onegirl I think what you are doing is great. Sometimes there are no cut backs to be made and people need ideas how to increase their incommings. Also making such a public statement will really motivate you.
