  • The show was on all last week and is on all this week from 10am to 11am each morning on BBC1. I am watching it now out of the corner of my eye as I type this reply!! The family are wanting to raise £1000 for a holiday to France. Hope you get to see the rest of the shows this week.

Is this something that is on every day? I must record it whilst im at work - i LOVE shows like that - as well as Bank of Mum and Dad (gutted thats finished).

These programmes definately keep me on the straight & narrow.

    xx

Bank of mum and dad hasn't finished! I was looking on the website when I realised it wasn't on - GUTTED as I'd got both kids in bed and oh out of the house so I could watch in peace and quiet  . They've just paused the series. I think it's meant to be back on 6 September (or somewhere near that ...) will add the weblink if I can find it again!

Will definitely look out for those programmes... I think I need any inspiration I can get!

Ms_London - congratulations on your doing so well with your debt mission. I'm very impressed and it makes me think maybe the website isn't such a ridiculous idea!

I have a loan and am paying off monthly repayments at the minimum amount. That comes out of my wages, and is pretty much all I can spare - although I am trying to cut down the other expenses as much as possible. So I'm going to try and earn the £10,000 outside of that. Part time jobs, selling things....and any other ideas people e-mail me with!! x

If you look around the threads on MSE there are lots of ideas of ways to make and save money, but they work for different people with different abilities.

So really the quickest and easiest way is for you to have a look, and get a shortlist of things you like the look of to investigate more fully. Your website doesn't give any information about what you're good or bad at, or anything, or what you like or dislike, so people haven't a clue what to suggest.

Also vacancies are local, so you need to look in local papers and the job centre for parttime jobs. Even keeping a note for signs in bars, shop, cafes etc as you go out an about.

Getting flooded with ideas that are impractical or seem silly to you that you eliminate immediately isn't going to help you really.

'nothing that might shame my family and friends' LOL, that's usually a quick way to make a buck on the internet! But all respect to you

Like the others I cant understand why you dont use your salary, pay off the debt as you go (or it will have grown in a year) and get as much as you can onto 0% cards in the meantime. This makes me think the debt might not be real and you are looking for ideas on how to make money. It is only a suspicion mind, I obviously have no way of knowing. The method just doesn't quite make sense and I am a suspicious type!

    But good luck

I can promise you the debt is very real!

Until going onto this site, I hadn't even thought about the option of 0% cards, paying off as I go etc. I thought it was best that I had consolidated it all into one loan, was meeting the monthly replayments and trying to save the rest in a separate account. Will definitely be looking into it all those options now though...

OK, it was just that you hadn't responded to those queries (until now)

I hope the consolidation was a good one and allows you to make early payments without penalties!

    Good luck again

Sorry that you feel so anti the programme. Personally I think it works well and Lorne can be a bit of a Rottweiler when it comes to having a go at the people who aren't pulling their weight. Yes we all know that you work more to earn more but it makes you realise how much you can achieve in the short term and good luck to all those people who take part.
