Afternoon everybody :hello:
Gosh I'm tired. Been a bit non-stop last night and todayYesterday the idea was that I was meant to get home from work at six-ish and then set off again at seven-ish to arrive at my family gathering at eight-ish, but just before I got home on the bus I got a text from my sister asking when I was getting there because she had to leave at 7:30! I didn't even know she was going to be there - it was a bit of a last-minute decision apparently - but I don't get to see her very often, so I rushed in, bunged the WM on, bunged the DW on, took the rubbish out, stuck a bottle of wine in my bag and ran straight out the door again. Got there just as my sister was leaving but at least I saw her!
Anyway it was a good do, very OS - baked potatoes and large quantities of mince stew and wine! My cousin dropped me and Mum back at mine afterwards, and we went almost straight to bed. This morning we went to Borough Market - VickyA, perhaps we walked past you without even knowing it! - and I bought some posh bread and cheese (v. pricey, but I haven't spent anything else this week so am still within budget by a few pence!) which we took round to my brother's place in Waterloo for lunch. I then dashed over to Covent Garden to buy some ballet shoes - I'm starting my beginners' lessons on Thursday - and back to my brother's to see off my mum on the train before coming home! I'm going to a concert this evening and my sister says she will be in London later with her BF - sounds like my brother and his GF will be there too - so I may even be going out afterwards too if I have any energy left!
By the way, Mum found Gingham's "Confessions..." thread on here the other day and had a really good laugh reading through it
Weather has turned grotty and I'm currently vegetating in front of the telly watching Saturday afternoon repeatsLuckily I don't need to do any cooking this weekend, there's more than enough in the freezer for at least another week!
I have been so flat-out that I didn't get round to sorting out any lucrative Quidco-related bets on the National - I stuck a quid on the office sweepstake but I haven't won anything (not that I deserved to after picking the winning horse TWO YEARS IN A ROW)
catowen - oooh I get a wave now do I?Thanks :j :j :hello: :hello:
(((smokybabe)))
grannybroon - I've got a Panasonic microwave too, a combi one. In hindsight it was possibly not worth spending for a combi, but definitely the right choice to get a good-quality brand.
catznine - I bet DH likes the funky sunglasses really, he probably thinks it improves his kudos with the laydeez :rotfl: Glad he is getting better though.
I too hope csarina comes back. Last time we had a conversation on here about choral singing she said some really interesting things. By the way, PenPen have you had your concert yet?

evening all,
(for Dorry) 5pm in the BB house
Catowen and Kathy we are in stokenham, which is near kingsbridge, its lovely, we had a walk (2 miles) to the beach today, had a go on the kites for an hour, collected shells, had a drinkie in the pub, and walked back, OH is now cooking steak, and fried pots with onion and mushrooms, holiday food
There is a pub on the beach which apparantly does excellent seafood, we had a drink there today, and will go back for a meal, you need to book as they were turning people away today, will let you know what its like, also there was a little shack selling fish which looked delish, so we will go back there, we got a small pot of prawns and rollmops to eat on the way back, DD had an ice cream  . Also found a farm shop which was fantastic but expensive so will have to find a supermarket.
Hope everyone is well hugs to all
Sue
xx
Martyn how did you sleep ?0 -
Hello again!
DHs back is slightly better but he's still hobbling!
Catowen - I also bet on St Johns Castle like your DD £2 each way so got £12 I think(which is what I put on 3 hore=ses in the first place):rolleyes:I hope your DD got some winnings!
Redruby - hope you have a lovely holiday!
Csarina - I want to echo what others are saying - please come back!
I'm coughing - still got my cold unfortunately.
DS1 has just got up:eek: at 5pm! he has been called several times. I'm not amused!
Off to see Mum now because she wants to show me the new outfit she's bought for her posh nephews wedding.

My horse won the National!!!!!!!!!
I picked it because of the name only.... felt it was very relevant in view of goings on with exDH etc... Went to see my mate for a cuppa last night & had the paper thrust in front of my nose with the words "choose a horse" - so I did!! Her DH was putting the bets on - so I did 50p each way (apparently....). Means nothing to me but I will have about £5 out of it I reckon??
Also went to one of the hotels on our seafront this morning where middle DD has just done a week's work experience - she has made £35 in tips in 4 days & they have been delighted with her - shame she's only 14 & can't get a proper job there. Took all DD's & my mum for hot chocolates there this morning (which would have cost £10 for 5 of us....) and the manageress came over & said they were on the house
Off out tonight to see a friend's boss in a jazz/blues band & supper out (so that won't be very OS or MSE) ...
Must put that granary bread going in the BM tonight so I can take it away while I housesit.
Hope all have had good days - keep meaning to say welcome to all newbiesLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Hello everyone:hello:
Had a quiet day today, got nearly all the washing done plus the weekly shop but that's about it. I've tried using vinegar as a fabric softener and to descale my kettle and am very pleased with the results! Still loving this site! Tea is HM pizza courtesy of OH who loves making pizza dough so much that we now own 2 pizza stones and they always taste delish. Slight disaster as the electric hand whisk broke so used the blender for the tom sauce. Fortunately writing about it has reminded me that I left it on a low heat to reduce - burnt pizza sauce only just averted!! :rotfl:
Looking forward to a quiet night in on my own, the first for a while (well since monday but thats a long time for me!). In particular I'm now getting quite excited about the prospect of seeing Mr Tennant again!:j
Congrats to any who won on the grand national and commiserations to those who didn't...I'm in the same boat.

Hello All,
Nice sunny day here but very cold...slept late, feel as if I had been up all night, not sure what the problem is, no doubt I will recover...we have had a lot of visitors over the last few days and although I don't fuss about people it may be taking its toll.
Hugs to Smoky...glad to hear that you have such a supportive sister and BIL...my mother used to say that 'a little help is worth a lot of pity' and I think that she was right. You are really doing well, don't be hard on yourself.
Csarina...I miss you, never mind the rest of them, please come back.
Hugs to all in need or want and congratulations to those who are celebrating for any reason.
Babysitting DGD3 as her parents have gone out with DS3 and DIL2 so busy...she is a good little thing, while she doesn't sleep much during the day, she chats away to herself unless she is hungry or needs a nappy change.
Some more knitting to-night, finally got on a roll.
Have a lovely evening
