Off to find the sticky!!!
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th April 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone,
Up early today, as DS has a big football match this morning, then im taking him to see the mighty Plymouth  play football this afternoon. DD is spending the day at a friends house, which means she is happy, and i get to spend some time with just DS. He was asleep early last night, as his match is very important, its the last league match of the season, and if they win they will be in the top division next year - they have done so well in their first proper year playing!
So, i wanted to get all my clicks done this morning before we went - we also put a pound on the grand national each year each - its a race i hate but still get drawn into it (i guess its from my grandad when i was younger, a big betting man) and the children love to pick a horse. last year DDs won, so we had a fish and chip supper with the winnings, lets hope we can do it again, would be nice to have a treat!!
Smokey ((HUGS)) how lovely of your family to help out - i know what you mean about school dinners being so expensive, thats why we have packed lunches too!!!
mrs mix :hello: Taplady :hello: Ivyleaf :hello: Shez :hello: Rzl :hello:
Aussie - looking forward to seeing what Tierd Mum was upto yesterday!!!
:grouphug: and :hello: to anyone who wants/needs one xxx
Have a lovely day everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi CATOWEN and all who follow.
Bit of a dull start to the day but not as bad as they forecast - at least not right now!
Woke up early again so have been mooching around on here and knitting, then I dozed off for half an hour on the sofa and now it's daylight!
I have a few chores to do then I'm going to visit the charity shops in the nearest town - haven't been there for ages so I'm looking forward to that. Yesterday, I picked up some brand new furnishing fabric in a sort of Wedgwood Blue colour, for £1 in one of my local charity shops; it's perfect for recovering my dining room chairs. I;ve been looking for some for ages.
Smoky – good to read your post last night. We are thrilled that so much was raised; it is sent to you with much love. As for the blankets, we are really enjoying doing them and so many people want to take part that what started as one blanket for you has now become blankets for the LOs, as well. The idea has grown so fast I can hardly believe it. I have worked out from your posts that you have two boys and one girl – I do hope I’ve got that right – if not, when you have time, perhaps you could let us know on here?
It’s wonderful that your sister and BIL are giving such practical help and spending time with the children – that will have such a lot of benefits, both short term and long, for you all. I’m sure they will love their new activities and having packed lunches which, as you say, will save a lot of money.
I’m glad that you are seeing the doctor next week; once you are able to get more sleep, you will find it a little easier to get through each day.
Eric did fight really hard – we were all praying for him and he was hardly out of our minds during his long struggle but, as I think you said yourself in one of your posts, he had to have the operation, although I can understand why you wish he’d never had it. He will be forever in your heart and in your children’s hearts and, in that way, he is still with you. You are in our hearts daily, too, and love hearing from you. We are here for you.
Well, off to put the kettle on - see you all later.

Good morning Catowen and all who cross and follow.
It's fine here, close to Southampton, at present.
Plans for today, drop Miss Twit at BF's afrter breakfast and then we are off for a mooch around. I think we may head to Lymington and see where our travels take us.
I picked up a localpaper last night when I went to buy milk and t-bags....Lymington Times, there's all sorts of sales and things advertised, no doubt Mr Twit's face will be a picture when I drag him round them in search of bargains
We are dining tonight with Boyfriend and his parents, a restaurant in Lymington I think.
Have a great day all and hugs to those in need.
Kyle are you and the children any better?
Love to all The Twit :grouphug:
Smoky I have just read your post from yesterday, I struggle to put my feelings into words. Life is full of what ifs and if onlys. From your posts over the last 12 months, Eric needed the op and you were there for him in every way. He will always be a major part in your life. I am so pleased that your sister and BIL are there for you and the children. Take care. :kisses3:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Good Morning Everyone. Just read the later posts in yesterday's thread - Smoky, you are still so much in our thoughts and prayers. Can't find the "right" words, but sending you loads of ((HUGS)).
Looks like a fine day here - so far.
Woke very early and have finally cleared the shelf of junk that's in my kitchen. Wish we'd never put the shelf up as it's a magnet for papers, phone chargers, etc. Still - clear for now!
Am seriously thinking of not coming on here for a bit as I spend so long, when I could be actually doing something - but it's very addictive and I like to know how everyone's doing. (Nosy, tha's me!) Trouble is what starts as a quick 10 minutes seems to stretch into a couple of hours. My house seriously needs me to pay it some attention - and if I don't do it during this holiday there's no chance until the summer break! Don't know what we're doing today, but I expect shopping and cooking feature there somewhere! Hope you all have a good day.Resolution:

Morning all
Just a quick post as we are off to the auction - there are some more greetings cards in which I shouldn't buy as I already have thousands, but I sold 200 over Easter, so should really get them while I can.
Smokey, lots of hugs. I'm glad your family are helping out. I'm sure you will see Eric again one day, and after my Mum died, I had some lovely dreams where I met her again.
Just about recovered from my trip to the dentist yesterday, and it was such fun that I'm going back next week to do it all again
Asda curry tonight (very Moneysaving) and a nice glass of wine while watching Dr Who
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
morning all
Hugs to Smoky - hope the doc can give you something to help you sleep, it saps your energy when you can't get a good night's sleep.
Good luck to your son, Catowen, in the footie. I am a footie fan, the tele will be on most of the weekend while I sit in front of it watching that ball go up and down the field!! I'm also tempted to try the £25 stake to Betfair for the grand national that you get refunded that Martin suggested. Has anyone else had a go at this? There is a horse running with my son's name. 'Simon', and am tempted to have a flutter, well it would be rude not to take Martin's advice wouldnt it??
Have a good day everyone - byeeeeeeeeee
PS Csarina you are still AWOL!!!!!0 -
Good morning Catowen and all who cross and follow.

It's just started to spit with rain here in Southampton now! Hope the weather stays like this or better! Give us a wave as you pass through! We're off to nearby Eastleigh this morning because that's where my favourite charity shops are!
BEEMUZED - that's exactly how I feel about my house at the moment. It's in dire need of a real spring clean - which I intend to start on Monday. It's coming on here that causes the hovel-like behaviour. I don't think I can get away with just a quick tidy up any more!

Morning all! Couldn't sleep much last night despite not going to bed until the wee small hours so got up for a cup of tea and stayed up:o
Massive<HUGS> to Smokey and her family.
DS21 is off to a paintballing party today so either OH or I will be roped in to give him a lift I expect. He goes back to uni tomorrowI shall miss him so much, he has been great while he's been back.
DD crawled home at about 1.00 a.m. last night so I'm not expecting to see her until some time this afternoon:rotfl:
Got the ironing done yesterday:T and did quite a bit of sewing so it was a productive day. Not sure what today will bring yet, depends on what the others want to do I suppose.
Bargain Rzl, thank you for the link in yesterday's message, sorry I didn't see it until today. It sounds as though you perform very much the same sort of thing as my choir; we like to have a spread of music over the centuries although we prefer the ancient sacred and secular stuff really. We go on two cathedral visits a year, singing the services whilst the regular choir has a break; this year it's Worcester and we've already sung at St Albans. We're not affiliated to any particular church though which means we're able to get up and go at any time;)
Have a great Saturday everyone. The sun has just popped its head out here so I may investigate the laundry basket to see if I can get anything out on the line before the snow arrives:eek:

Morning... Could not be bothered to get up early today. I was late to bed anyway drinking wine and socialising with friends till 1am.
Little disapointed with this mornings weather. I knew it might be colder, but rain as well! I don't need that. Today was my plan of action for the garden.
I got a large trampoline given to us yesterday, set it up and it's huge. They said it was a bit rusty but we might get some use out of it.... It's not far off new looking, so the kids are really happy.
Well best get the coffee on... have a nice weekendNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Morning!
Catowen - good luck to your DS with the footie!:hello:
(((smoky))) and (((benthosboy))) hope you both got some sleep x
Am off shortly to help DH with his milk round, I quite enjoy it as its out in the country and we visit some beautiful houses.
We are both looking forward to the national, DH loves the horseracing and studies the form avidly. We'll be having a little flutter later, not sure what he's backing but I fancy D'argent, Baily Breeze and Philson Run - the last one because I read an article about a lady who backed it because her son was dying in a hospice last year and he was called Philip and it came 4th winning her some money for the hospice, she's backing it again this year in memory of her son.
Sunny here ATM so the washing is on the line.
Hope you all have a lovely day xDo what you love :happyhear0
