The site fees of £1275 include electric fees, but not gas as that is bottled and will be on an as and when basis. The £1275 has to be paid when we site it next week, which then gives us until the end of October. It has to be done like that to take advantage of a) a seasonal spot ( you are only sposed to stay 28 days consecutive and then go away for a week but we can get round that), b) the lower rate for a seasonal spot; it would otherwise be £19 per night or £576 per month, so we're better paying for the season. Once it is paid we then have little outgoings, which obviously would render hubby to quite a hefty IPA. he will be staying with his sister during the week.
Obviously we want sa much going on the IandE as outgoings as possible.0 -
well, we've done the hardest bit and told all of our families what is happening. My mum and Dad knew a few weeks ago but hubby has told his Mum tonight. Typically she gave him a b o llo cking for not telling her before, but that's the hardest person for hubby to tell. He's feeling especially low today as it's the anniversary of his Dad's passing but he's got through it okay. He's been low the last few days with evrything playing on his mind but we've also told all our regular customers that we are leaving (not told them about going BR) and they have all been so supportive saying they dont know how we've lasted this long with no backing from the brewery. They've all seen what we've done to the place and what the brewery haven't.
Gonna be relieved to go and be debt free but also gonna miss the people we've met. There are a few we'll keep in touch with who have become REALLY good friends, but we will miss village life.
Still, onwards and upwards, we'll go for a managed house so no financial risk and there's plenty more people to meet.
Might even host a MSE bankrupts reunion when we get a managed house!!!!

You mean you don't trust a load of bankrupts.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Not at all, probably would be more trustworthy than those who do just throw the mney around. After all those with the least have the most to lose. At least in my experience. Those who count the pennies for one last drink and are 10p short will come in and pay it quicker than those who usually dont worry about the money and run up a tab of £40-50 on the strength of it and then dont turn up for a couple of weeks.
Just couldn't put a smiley on my lsat post for some reason!!!0 -

It's the lobster that's nasty, it's already eaten an Angel Fish, a Silver Cloud and two Area Managers. teehee0

Your story sounds so familliar... My BF ran a pub for the same brewery and they basically left him to his own devices. with no support at all. Eventually, it backrupted him because he soooooooooooo wanted it to work.
On the night before he gave the keys back, he gave away everything in the building and left it a shell. The pub re-opened but never took off again and the new landlord is going through the exact same thing.
You have sooo done the right thing.

Well, here we go. Hubbys wages have gone in today so we've split it over two accounts online and have cleared half via the cashpoint. The other half we will go and get just after midnight and then he will go in branch tomorrow and clear out his pensions that also credit just after midnight. This will clear both accounts BEFORE payments become due in the next few days. Hopefully noone at the bank will query this.
we have arranged a farewell party for next Tuesday night with all our regulars (doesn't take much when there's cheap ale on offer!). This should hopefully clear all our stocks so that the brewery get sweet FA when we hand back the keys and also give us a bit extra cash.
Got to the horrible bit in packing now where its just all bits n bobs and I cant fill a box for each room so just have to chuck everything in together.
have finalised arrangements for taking the caravan up the coast on Thursday and siting it, so we're nearly all set.
The last few weeks have just flown by. Still got the paperwork to do but I am leaving that until last cos I can have all day Tuesday on that, its all sat in a huge pile just waiting for me.
I can't believe it's only a week away!!!
Punch have arranged for fixtures and fitting revaluation tomorrow as they have now received our 6 month notice so at least that will save us a job next Wednesday after hubby has been declared!!
The To Let board has also gone up outside today...little do they know !!!;) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
So, we're nearly all set. Just gotta figure out how we're gonna get 4 of us plus 2 dogs and a lobster in a tank up to the coast in 1 car.
Should be fun.0 -
Hi there
I just thought I'd wish you and your family good luck. I went through the exact same thing 18 months ago with Punch, infact reading your posts is quite spooky!!!
You've done the hardest part now by making the decision and putting your plan into action. The only thing I will say though is be very careful with remaining in business until your BR date as the OR may not see you continuing to trade when you have acknowledged your financial fate as very responsible. Do not buy any more stock on accounts whatever you do! I was "cash only" for the last couple of weeks with everything and although this meant I hadn't squirrelled much cash away for myself after BR I believe this contributed greatly to being discharged after only 8 months even though my debt was £60-70k. The OR are very fair if you play by their rules!
If you ever want to chat or have a moan with someone who can empathise then drop me a PM.
