I want to make some HM pizzas in my meal plan this week, and OH is fond of a certain take-away's texas barbeque sauce. I'm not so keen so was thinking of making individual pizzas, tomato for me, bbq for him. Any ideas on how to make the bbq sauce? Still want a MS aspect, so if it's cheaper would a bbq table sauce work?
Thanks!So, there are these boys,

Hi Hellyboo,
Barbeque sauce is very easy to make at home and I find it quite cheap because it's made from storecupboard ingredients that I normally have in.
This thread has some recipes that may help:
BBQ Sauce
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

if you have a table sauce I tink that'd work just fine as a flavour base for a pizza.
Hope he enjoys it x0 -

Generally, if I want to add a BBQ flavour to tomato sauces I just add a tablesppon of black treacle and/or brown sugar. HTHDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Now I fancy making barbecue pork ribs in the slow cooker, the recipes I find are all american and say 1/2 bottle of barbecue sauce, what can I use? HP sauce or the cook-in-sauces?0

In one of my more desperate "how can I make this more interesting" moments I mixed roughly equal proportions of HP sauce and tomato ketchup, which actually tasted rather good. I cooked on the hob though - not sure if it would work in a slow cooker - you might need a bit of extra water.0

You could use ketchup or brown sauce. For a more OS solution, there are lots of recipes hereI'll merge this later.

Imho what makes BBQ sauce taste like BBQ sauce is Worcestershire sauce, so ketchup with some brown sugar and worcestershire sauce would be a good sub.:)0

I put equal amounts of red and brown sauce, some worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, about half a clove of garlic and a crunch of black pepper! Yummy0
