Martyn - not had any dealings with depression myself so I cant offer any advice but I hope things improve and that you get a good nights sleep(((hugs))) from me xxx
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • :grouphug: A dodgy hug from me as well Martyn. As others have said, well done for going to the doctors - it may take a few weeks for the anti-depressants to kick in properly, and if after that they don't seem to be doing much, don't hesitate to go back and maybe see if a change to something different will help.

You certainly have nothing to say sorry for. We are all here, and just glad you come & say hi each day. Just keep taking baby steps...

((((hugs)))) smokey as well and anyone else who needs them.

Feeling very cross wih myself - another day spent with laptop on my knee and very little else achieved. Please kick me off if I'm around much tomorrow! Martyn, have some experience of depression myself in the past - would echo comments about the time it can take for anti-depressants to kick in, but they will afer maybe a couple of weeks or so, so keep at it.

  • Evening all,

Taplady hope you really enjoy your 3 days off
Bessy – welcome. Everyone on here is mad except for me.

Feeling lots better today, been busy, mowed the back garden, tidied the border up in the front garden (weeding and planting summer flowering bulbs). Woolworths have some good offers on at the moment, 50 gladioli bulbs for £2.99. The boys enjoyed helping me sort out the front garden. They are so good:A

Went shopping, cooked a ham, made bread rolls, made 36 cup cakes (some for the school tomorrow), cooked dinner and have now collapsed:rolleyes:
Apart from that, have hoovered, tidied and put two washloads out to dry. The weather today was glorious and made a huge difference to my mood so I had to make the most of it while it was fine.

Going to spend the day tomorrow getting stuff ready for our week away. Soooo looking forward to that.

Benthosboy. I think that what you are going through is the same as a grieving process, losing a long term partner in whatever way, leaves a gap in your life that may seem hard to fill, but it will get easier, and as in any grieving process, it takes time and you have to give yourself that time to come to terms with it. Take good care of yourself and it will pass. In the meantime, we are all here for you.:grouphug:

well done Martyn. you've taken a big step to getting better today, I know it feels worse just now, but you'll see things so differently when the pills start working. you are not going to end up in the nuthouse. everything feels out of control just now, but it will get better.
The best thing is to talk about how you are feeling...and there's plenty here to listen.

Martyn...as others have said, going to the doctor was a very big and important step on your road to recovery from depression. The tablets will take at least a couple of weeks to really kick in, in the meantime sleep is what you need most, so keep taking the sleeping tablets.
You will be fine, but don't expect a quick fix, as depression is an illness that slowly gets to you and takes quite a time to sort...crying is ok, it is one of the body's most important release mechanisms.
