Off to sunny Florida in the morning!

    Can't wait to see DS.

The thread has been so quiet lately. What are you all up to?

    Have a great holiday PP.

I haven't been on much due to having my French neighbour to stay for a week and we've been busy showing her the sights of not so sunny Northern Ireland. It rained every single day that she was here but we managed to see a fair amount in between the showers. I asked her what the highlight of her visit was, thinking she might say the Giant's Causeway or Carrick a rede rope bridge but no, it was the Crown Bar in Belfast owned by the National trust. She'd never seen anything like it.

  • Enjoy your holiday SS.

I think MW must still be in France. No doubt we'll hear from her soon.

I'm with SDW on the ironing thing. We have one, but it very rarely sees the light of day.

We have TWO in the UK :( Bought one in a moment of madness and then 'inherited' one from my m-i-l.

The lads who live in the house now don't use them either.:rotfl:

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • Spent the last two weeks of August in Scotland, with DH and my Mum and her best friend of 80 years. Both ladies widowed last year within 6 weeks of each other. This was their first holiday as widows, so they asked OH and me to go with them as they were a little worried how they would cope.

Well first they coped really well, so, worryingly my dear old ma looks like she may be taking up SKIing with a vengeance!

Secondly we have fallen in love with Scotland. What a beautiful country, what lovely people. I am ashamed to say this was my first visit, but, will not be the last, that's for sure.

Next Friday OH and myself off to Wales for a long week-end. So as you can see we are still SKIing merrilly away.
Away with the fairies.... Back soon

The weather's been rather glorious here in the UK this week!

Absolutely superb for Doors Open Day today.

And we're off to Fuerteventura at silly o'clock on Wednesday!

  • Just got back from holiday late on Friday night. We went to a little place called Tregastel on the Pink Granite Coast in Brittany. Fabulous scenery, weather good, lovely food, everything went smoothly. Due to the extensive planning and preparation that DH does, we had a 4-berth cabin for the 2 of us on the overnight crossing by Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo, then a daytime crossing with seats in the Club class lounge. We stayed in a lovely hotel, 2-star overlooking the beach at Tregastel, beautiful sea views and waking to the sound of surf on the beach.

DH is so organised, it's a pleasure to go anywhere with him. And he says he loves being out and about with me, because we enjoy each other's company so much. Long ago he thanked me for 'not giving him a row' when we got lost. It appears that that was what used to happen in his last marriage. She would throw a wobbly and blame him whenever they took a wrong turning, it was always his fault. We get lost lots of times, even when the satnav sends us the wrong way, and we laugh about it. We always get back to where we want to go, we've never been totally lost yet, after all we're in civilised countries and not in the Amazon rain-forest!
