  • My knowledge is also small regarding dongles but I believe it is a device whereby you can connect to the internet via a mobile phone, wherever you are, providing there is a wireless network within range.

    Might be wrong though.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I just stick the dongle in the USB port and it connects to the internet anywhere in Northern Cyprus and Turkey. It seems to work really well.

I managed to book some of those Ryanair £1 flights to Barcelona in March, so am looking forward to a cheap week in Spain. Keeping my eyes open for other opportunities, too.

  • Just back from a trip to Bruges, Ghent and Ypres. Also had a new boiler, ordered new bathroom suite - waiting for plumber now. Then it'll be the turn of the kitchen. That takes care of a few grand.
  • Well done NR!

Well words are failing me atm. DH's brothers wife told me yesterday, that they had not touched the lump sum they had put away from his retirement. I asked why on earth not, well its something for the kids. I pointed out the two kids would share the house and spend it at the speed of light!
The later they said they would not come to a BBQ I am doing for DH's 60th I am organising at the end of the month as it is £16 for a taxi so he could have a drink while there. Families give me friends anyday! DG

Tell them that me and Mrs.D are volunteering for adoption.
They sound like they would be our kind of parents.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I too am speehless, why on earth can't they enjoy their retirement?

We have told our son he will have the (English) house but don't expect anything else (which he is more than happy with).
Proceeds from Spanish house when we are ready to sell will either be a nice place in the UK for us or more SKI-ing.

Hi everyone - back in town. Holland was as lovely as ever and I am full of all kinds of good stuff - mostly the edible variety. DG - can I join the speechless gang - they need their heads examining. I really didn't think that anyone thought like them anymore. You really should sit them down and give them a good talking too. Don't they envy the life you and Mr. DG have?

  • Whereabouts in France are you going Mery Widow?
Our French neighbour is arriving on Wednesday for a weeks stay with us. She's never been to Ireland before so I hope the weather picks up as we want to show her the sights but the forecast isn't great. We going to treat her visit like a little holiday having a day here and a day there. It will really put our French and her English to the test. DH sees the consultant on 4th Sept re his hip replacement so that may put paid to our gallavanting for a while but in the meantime we have a trip to Manchester on 14th to settle DS into uni there. The following weekend we're off to Cork for 4 days ( staying in a 4* hotel) for my mums 80th and then we go to our house in France on 14th Oct for a week. Hoping DH won't get called for his op till these trips are over.
