Well we are blowing a big wedge of the air-miles on a 3 night trip to Madrid in July. It only leaves 900 miles in the pot, but they are no good to us if BA flops.
We don't view it as treating ourselves, just a prudent response to the current economic climate.
Never been there, anything that should not be missed?0 -
The only thing we have done in Madrid is get lost in it every time we drive north to Bilbao!
Have a great time!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

We have loads of BA Miles, but there are few flights from Manchester. Will we ever earn enough to go to see DS in Florida? I hope they don't go bust. I wouldn't fancy giving up a month's wages as BA asked employees.
Parc Retiro in Madrid is lovely, digger. But when we went, one October, It was blooming cold!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

This weekend we have been ski-ing at a jazz festival for DH's birthday. Unfortunately we should have been picking DS2 up from Uni, but we had our dates confused. A plaintive phone call while we were eating our breakfast on Saturday: "Is Dad nearly here, do you suppose, because I'm supposed to be gone in 20 minutes?" :rotfl: No, Dad is NOT nearly there, he would have been nearly there this time next Saturday.
Fortunately DS1 has just finished at the same Uni and still has his rented house, so DS2 took his 'stuff' to DS1 in a taxi and came home by train. We now need to work out when to get that.
If only they did 'chit chat', this would never have happened: when they phoned to wish him a happy birthday ONE of them might have said "See you on Saturday!" giving Dad to chance to say "Next Saturday, surely ..."
Actually it didn't cost much because having failed to find a B&B / hotel, we stayed with old friends from Uni. Very MSE!

We're used to it, and so is he ... I think we've been forgiven! :rotfl:seven-day-weekend wrote: »Oh dear. Failed as parents again then!
Thank goodness he went to the same Uni as his big brother. No idea what we would have done if he'd been miles from anyone we knew! Told him to sit on his suitcase (and boxes, and bags, and goodness knows what else) and wait for us, I suppose ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Fabulous time last night at Gwyl Gobaith (Festival of Hope) for the children's hospice in Oswestry and North Wales.
It was in garden of beautiful country house and we saw Ysgol Glanaethwy and Only men Aloud, along with a local choir and Cor Gogleth Rygbi. The fabulous Only men Aloud are now on the plane to sing at The White House.
Great to picnic and drink wine - pity it rained.
I wonder if any MSErs were there?Member #14 of SKI-ers club
