I've used this a couple of times. You book the cottages direct with the owners.

Hi everyone
Just back from our first UK ski-ing trip of the year, on cliffe top on the East Coast on a caravan rally, the whole of £15 for 3 nights! Marquee for evening get togethers (heated) and last night a bring your own meat BBQ (own drinks too) but salad, pasta and bread provided. There were over 40 children on the rally from teenage to 3, and we didn't believe it when we were told as they were so well behaved.
Saturday was glorious and everyone could get on the beach. Sunday was good but breeze, today was very windy, and much cooler, but we were on our way home by 3 pm.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Just had an excellent morning playing bowls with the local U3A group.
I wonder if any other skiers or skaters are members of a U3A?
Most of the activities are very cheap, leaving funds for holidays, and DH and I have made lots of friends. A dining club tonight.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I received this as one of the amusing emails that get passed around, and thought it may give you a smile.
Dear Mr. Darling,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing Britain 's economy. Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 20 million people over 50 in the work force. - Pay them £1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. Twenty million job openings - Unemployment fixed .
2) They MUST buy a new British CAR. Twenty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed .
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed .
4) They must send their kids to school / college /university - Crime rate fixed
5) Buy £50 of alcohol / tobacco a week there's your money back in duty / tax etc
It can't get any easier than that!
P.S. If more money is needed , have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances
If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. If not, please disregard.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Well, I've handed my notice in and my job is being interviewed for on Tuesday. I am having a great time planning my retirement. I had already booked my summer flights before I decided to retire so am returning from Cyprus at the begining of September and returning in October. Am waiting to see what crops up in September, although I have managed to book a £9 Travelodge room in Penrith to add to a competition win of dinner bed and breakfast in the Lake District area.
Also am really pleased to have booked two really cheap Easyjet flights back from Istanbul in December - we have promised ourselves for 5 years that we will stop off on the way home from Northern Cyprus for a few days.
Roll on July - I can't wait!sloan SKI-ers Club #10 :j0 -
We are back from our 10 day coach holiday to Italy and Austria via Switzerland and we are feeling very refreshed. What stupendous value it was at £500 each. I`ll tell more later, the pros and cons, when I have finished washing and shopping. I am also making a packing list for future holidays as I unpack, so no more packing and unpacking stress for days before we travel and more lightweight too0

Heading off tomorrow for a week in France but theweather forecast is woeful. I'll just have to bring plenty of books and drink plenty of wine to counteract the bad weather.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

Well done Sloan, hope you have a brilliant retirement, I bet your last term will drag! (But look forward to thinking that you don't have to come back again in September!).
Kittie, glad you had a nice time and Francophile, hope you have a nice time!
We're off to the UK (Wolverhampton and Pembrokeshire) for a couple of months on the Pride of Bilbao on June 3rd.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Sloan, you will love it with no marking, but probably miss the kids!
Can I repeat Seven day's message. We'll be welcoming her back shortly - hope you bring Spanish weather with you!
I might be stating the obvious here, but I had an excellent packing tip for tours ( From Dorothy, when we did Russia with Archers.)
Pack groups of cloths in clear plastic bags - can be lifted out of case without having to repack and clothes can be seen. In fact, it works like having a set of drawers!
We love coach tours, with a stay at the end. They can be pretty strenuous, but we see a lot, with informed guides/tour leaders and someone else does the driving. Not forgetting that we see more being high up in a coach.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

We're looking forward to it immensley. Fish and Chips, curry, family, friends (not necessarily in that order!).
We disembark in Portsmouth on June 4th at 17.15. Then we are probably going to stay in Dormansland near Lingfield for a day or two with friends. Then up to the Midlands to our house to see our son, his girlfriend and our friends and neighbours. During our time here we will be spending odd nights with more friends. One lot are in Balsall Common near Coventry, taking in a visit to my sister in Bromsgrove on the way. Another lot are in Dudley. We will also see plenty of my husband's cousin and her husband who live in Telford.
Then to Pembrokeshire to a huge bungalow with acres of garden on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for three weeks on a house exchange holiday (they come here).
Then back to Wolves and a joint 60th birthday party for hubby and his best mate at the Cricket Club.
We will also attend our church and catch up with all our friends there during our visit.
Then at some point return to Spain, taking in a visit to another set of friends on the South Coast at Seaford on the way.
What more could we ask for?
Will try to bring good weather!(AKA HRH_MUngo)
