It`s a good idea savvy sue but we like to take our bikes and there just isn`t room in the car.

Lovely to be welcomed back into the fold

Anyway no probs now re spending :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:as I am making up for lost time. Lol, I have thransferred cash from savings accounts 3 times in the last few days. I have been spending on `things` to make packing for our holidays that bit easier ie items that can take up residence in the new suitcase in between holidays.

I had a shipping order from magellans and two lots of clothes from a good clothes site, mainly versatile skirts and tops and they will purely be for holidays

Tomorrow, I`ll be booking a hol in the canaries in early spring. Lol, there is no stopping us now!!!!

Well, had you thought of hiring bikes when you get there? Which presumably you do on any of your foreign jollies!

Canaries - lovely! Lanzarote has more 'culture' than Fuerteventura, IMO, and I've not been to any of the others, but we're going back again this autumn!

At last, got DH to book Summer holiday! He's been worried because we haven't put anything in an ISA this year! Have got him to see that it's time to spend - not save!

Off to Crete in June. But must fit in The Giant's Causeway sometime this year!

Hi Pollypenny - I love Crete too - there is a wierd little place called Elounda Island Villas - its a word of mouth little hide-away along a causeway from Elounda village. It has about 8 little 3 storey villas with a sun terrace on the roof with views over Spinalonga and Elounda. A lovely Greek couple (his is an accountant in Athens) who run it as a hobby. It has just a taverna, where you eat what the day's catch is. When we went there three years in a row it was on an honours system. You took what you wanted from the wine and soft drink fridges and ordered from the bar and restaurant and just noted what you had and paid at the end. It might have changed by now but it was totally idilic. It had a tiny beach. They were not in any brochure. On our last visit a travel book writer was staying but he sure as Hell wasn't about to let on about it in any book. If you wanted any nightlife it was a mile walk across the causeway to the village. Unique on that island.

You mentioned the Giant's Causeway. I plan to have a look at Northern Island this year and have found a tour of that area. Tell my why you love it so much.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Hi, MW. I've never been to the Giant's Causeway. It's one of the spectacular sights of the Uk that I really want to see.

DH and I always end up having 'geography' type hoidays. We loved Cappodocia, Pammukkale, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc. That makes them sound as if they are all in the same country!:rotfl:

It's my sister who's the geog teacher!

Thanks for advice on Crete. The lack of night life won't worry us!

Well done on the new car DG.

Yes well done Donny-Gal on the new car. How long do you have to wait for it?

Booked to Ska-te off to the Highlands (Loch Fyne) next Tuesday - but now I am in a bit of a dilema with this Swine Flu circulating up there. Do you think I am being over cautious and silly. Its currently 100 miles away - give or take - in Stirling.
