We prefer skiing in Italy, never even thought of Turkey. How did you rate it.
Thanks.0 -
I love Turkey! As a vegetarian, it's the best place for meals. I never go on holiday for food, just to see the places, but on Archers' Grand Tour of Turkey I ate soooo well!
The hotel we stayed at this time was too quiet for us and too far out, but idea if anyone needed a week's total chill out.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

SKI-ing in the UK.
We decided to make life in one room more comfortable and have invested in a sofa bed (instead of a mattress on the floor) and a new TV.
The sofa bed was very MSE. :money: I was just sitting on it in IKEA, writing dwn the collection point data, when a customer came past and said 'I have one of those at home, I've had it six months, I only want £100 for it'. So we went to her house and bought it, good as new, the only reason she was getting rid of it was she needed two singles instead of a double.
Saved £125 - hence the new telly, which was reduced by £100 down to £199.:rotfl::rotfl:
SKI-ing in Norwich next week, meeting cousins who I have not seen for years with my American cousin, who has never met any of us. Exciting time!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

SDW sounds like such a good time will be had on your visit.. and what a stroke of luck meeting the lady with the sofabed.. well done... hope you enjoy your visit muchly...
I'm off to Wales on the 11th with my eldest sister , we are going to visit our other sister who lives near Tenby in a tiny hamlet... had to book a b and b as she doesn't have space for us but it'll be the first time I've been on holidays just the 3 of us for as long as I can remember . My sister is in her middle 70's and hasn't been too well and I just thought heck if I don't get the 3 of us together soon she might not be well enough to travel or worse? so looking forward to a few days by the sea and catch up with sis and family... OH has to stay home to look after a very frail and elderly kittie... luckily he doesn't mind..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Enjoy your visit to Wales,Tanith. i agree that these things must be done before it is too late.
I'm so glad now that Cammie (American cousin) decided she wanted to visit us all and meet her late mother's English family and that Jayne (Norfolk cousin) has been so welcoming and hospitable and that she and her husband have organised most of the get-together. We are all in our 60s or older. Cammie is the youngest at just 60, then me at 61 and Jayne at 63, all the rest are quite a bit older.
We have organised a home exchange for our accomodation, an apartment right in the centre of Norwich, should be good. Myself and my husband and Cammie will stay in it.
We will be in Norwich until the Thursday and then back to Wolverhampton for Cammie to meet our son and his girlfriend and my 77-year-old sister and (hopefully) her children on the Sunday. Cammie will be staying with some friends of ours round the corner as our little house is full! Between Thursday and Sunday we will show her some sights of the Midlands - the Black Country Museum and the Shropshire countryside (including Ironbridge) at least, maybe Warwick and Stratford if we can fit them in.
She is returning to the States on the Monday and hopefully we will see her again sometime.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

You're packing in a heck of a lot SDW.. I've always wanted to got and see Ironbridge maybe OH and I will make it some time soon... You are so right about doing things with family when the chance comes along.. I've had this trip in mind for ages but kept putting it off.. I know its only Wales but I've gotten out of the habit of driving any distance without OH along to share the driving and my sis doesn't drive thats the reason I kept putting it off and I decided enough was enough I was being rediculous . Enjoy your visit..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Where do you live Tanith? You may be able to 'do' Ironbridge on your way back from Wales.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I'm in London SDW.. I think its a bit far North isn't it? and across country I just remember my sis telling me what a pain it is getting from West/South Wales up North...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If you live in the Midands it is easy, we are only about 15miles from Ironbridge and you could make a small detour on your way to Wales.
I think it would be a pain from London though.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

but the last couple of days have been EXHAUSTING!
We've hired a large people carrier, they took the back seats out of it for us, it's shaped like a box and massive! Which it has had to be: Thursday was taking a bed to the tip from home, then driving to DS1's flat which he and his flatmate were vacating, taking a broken settee, rocking chair and other miscellaneous items to the tip, moving another bed, desk and small chest of drawers across the city, then moving a wardrobe and 2 tall and a short bookcase a mile or so (yes that was just one load!), and then filling it up with the remains of DS1's life in this flat and bringing it all home. Fortunately we had DS3's help with all that. Even so it was hard work!
Then it was getting DS3's gubbins from his Uni room and bringing THAT home.
Then collapse. Today we've driven about 1/4 of DS1's stuff to his new base: he's sofa surfing through the summer before he and some friends (hopefully) get another house back in the city where he did his degree. Which is also where DS2 is studying, so guess what? We unloaded DS1, drove to DS2, and loaded HIS life into the back of the box. We left him cleaning: he's not the last to leave this year but there's a heck of a lot to do! Then he's getting a train home, while we have headed up to a rather nice spa hotel we like. I've had a massage, DH has had a sauna, and we feel almost human again.
Tomorrow I'm meeting two of my siblings, my mother, my aunt and some of my cousins. One cousin lives near here, another is driving my aunt down, and my sibling is driving my mum here. However I'm leaving the car at the hotel and getting the train: I've done enough driving!
We go home Sunday, to see if DS3 has moved all his 'stuff' from the hall. Then first thing (ie very very early!) DS2 goes off on holiday. I've said I MAY give him a lift to the bus station, but I'm not promising, especially as he says he and his friends will walk, rather than get taxis. MSE or what! We're talking 4 miles or so! :rotfl:
Mind you, he's only now started thinking about the best way of getting euros out / spending on credit cards etc. Fortunately he has a Nationwide credit card from the USA trip, but nothing 'sane' for withdrawing cash if needed.Signature removed for peace of mind0
