SKI-er or Sk-ater. We know how to enjoy ourselves

  • Well said Savvy Sue.

Our next move is to sell our Spanish house (we have had it eight years this year) - although it is lovely and we love the village and the people, it was never meant to be a permanent move and we already do half and half. We don't want to live here if we are old and frail, nor do we want to have to undertake the sale and move in that state.

Our Spanish house is great, but it has three floors, three sets of stairs, large rooms and three more bedrooms than we need. So last week we put it up for sale so that we can move on to the next step of our lives.

Although we have a house in the UK, what we would like to do is leave that house as it is, with our son, his girlfriend and his lodger living in it, and buy ourselves an apartment in a nearby develpment with the proceeds of the Spanish house sale. We have owned a flat in this development before (as an investment property) so we know that we like them; they are very popular, they are two bedroom and totally suitable for us, and if we get the price we want for the Spanish house, will be affordable.

Here is a link to our house, if you know anyone who might be interested!

We have a possible viewing of our house on May 8th. :)

    Hope viewing goes well, SDW.

I'd love to buy a little condo near DS and DIL in Florida.

We have decided recently that whether we sell the house or not we are going to invest this year in some top-of-the-range camping equipment.

We saw a really nice little 'overnight' tent in Decathlon - only 80 euros - that, plus a 'long-stay' tent and associated equipment, would be good.

We have camped for most of our marriage, it is only the last ten years that we haven't.

Looking forward to SKI-ing in France and parts of Spain that we have not visited. :)

Edited to add: House viewing on May 8th definite....we are busy cleaning, de-cluttering and deciding on strategy. :)

SKATER - for those without any children to spend the inheritance on!.

I'm not sure what number we are on (for your signature), but 15 should be OK :)

This is the first year Belair and I have really got into Sking seriously!

We went on our first ever cruise, a 15 day one in the Caribbean, in January which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Next month we are off to Rhodes for two weeks all inclusive.

In the winter time we intend to go on another cruise, probably back to the Caribbean, to help break up the winter. Have even put down £50pp deposit (in return for £90pp on board on-board spend {MSE} )

Look forward to being a professional Skier in a couple of years time, when I retire!

Have been on a lot of nice trips since last here.
More funded out of current income, than by a serious attempt to spend kids inheritance.
Dubai,(avoidable), Nile,(repeatable), South Africa,(so-so), Victoria Falls, (very repeatable), Safari Lodge,( should be on all your wish lists).
Blackpool,(no shame in admitting), Glasgow,(no shame in admitting), Edinburgh, (should be on all your lists)

However as life goes on, life also ends. We have had a couple of surprises, and are in last stages of getting Digger Mansions 1, ready for sale, and getting Digger Mansions 2, ready for occupation.

Looks like a near dream ending, land for horses, garden space to die for, that also has allotment space, + Mrs.D. has got a move sideways at work, which means she can work from home, so we get to keep one income for a while longer.
Me? I guess I will have to get a mickey mouse job when move is complete, but that won't cause me any problem. Work that pays, is work that pays.

Oh and I have just come back from ski-ing in Turkey with SAGA.

I am flipping freezing! And have put on half a stone!

    Your dream sounds delightful, Digger.
