I would leave your boiler on low Polypenny, as if not your house will take some warming when you return. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

I am skiing to get round the problem of having one arm tied to my body.

wash and blow dry at the hairdresser is infinitely preferable to DH's ministrations - AND they are giving me a reduced rate because I don't need a 'fully styled' blow dry, I normally drip dry but it's a tad cold for that atm.

chiropodist Monday - again I wouldn't usually get my feet done except as a treat, but looking forward to it.

    heating on all day.

planning to go out for lunch Christmas Day, just got to work out where!

also if shoulder doesn't let me drive we'll look at changing car to an automatic with steering knob!

OTOH no fares to work for a while ...

We're off to Florida again for Christmas!

Be glad to escape this weather, but a bit worried about house. Can you drain the water from a combi boiler?

I don't think you'd need to. We have a combi boiler and the beauty of it is that there is no storage tank sitting in the loft full of water that needs to be kept hot. With a combi boiler you get water heated straight from the mains, not stored anywhere.

Your boiler should have a frost thermostat set at 4 or 5 degrees C. Make sure it is working before you go.

Do feel a bit guilty about going to Florida and really hadn't intended to. However, DS and lovely DIL are very persuasive!

Quite blunt about it, Dad can do the cooking and Mum will walk the dog!

  • Beautiful weather here, just how I like Spanish weather in the winter; warm and sunny with a blue sky. My husband was sunbathing on the roof yesterday. :)

    Welcome back Donny-gal!

Got back from Florida on Monday - still jet-lagged.

I was a bit homesick, there. It's great to see DS and DIL, but I miss doing my things and my own home, really.

How do you who stay away for a long time regularly manage? SDW and Jessilu (but she's not posting at present)

having had to cancel the Dec holiday, we are skiing back to Fuerteventura in Feb.

SDF, donnygal, anyone else, what's the Spanish for "I am setting the security device off because I have had a shoulder replacement"?

Just waiting to get up for the trip to London. Staying overnight, Spain for four nights and then onto Cyprus until March 29th. In the meantime, our house is going to be split into two and extended again so tha DD1 and fiance have a family home and we have our own space. Can't wait until all the work is completed.
