BTW, DH doesn't think it will activate the security device, and thinks that "I'm not all there, bits of me are elsewhere" would be more useful.

  • We are ski-ing at least twice this year.

A week in the Pyrenees on our way to the UK in June in a town called Jaca on the Spanish side of the mountains.

Also, two weeks in the centre of Oxford in September.

    Both Home Exchanges.

I'm in particular looking forward to the Oxford one. We went for the weekend last year, it was wonderful and we are glad to have the chance to spend longer there. We also have friends there, a young couple who used to live in Spain, and their little daughter who is our surrogate grandchild. :)

There is also a small chance of Holland, but that may have to wait until next year.

The most important one though is a visit from my American cousin from Boulder, Colorado. We have never met but she is coming to the UK in July and we are going to visit Norwich where we have other cousins. She wants to meet her mum's English relatives as her mum died when she was 16. I also have not seen these cousins for many years, some of them not since I was a child. So it will be a good experience for both of us.

Dog-sitting for two weeks too for our friends, so that will give us some spending money. :)

A full summer planned already! Then return to Spain around November.

The shoulder has sent me into 'hang the expense' mode ...

DH has to be in Leeds for the day before we go on holiday, so we will pack the day before that and put cases in car. then he will drive to the pub near the airport which does parking, get lift to airport and fly to Leeds. in the evening I will either get the bus or cadge a lift to the pub, where we have booked B&B.

reduces DH's driving by a couple of hours, and means we can get up a bit later. one time he just didn't go to bed before an early flight because he was still sorting out!

mind you, didn't help that I suddenly realised I'd booked flights FIVE weeks apart, not one! good job I DID notice then and not the day before we flew out ... but another £200 spent to sort that out!

    Hi Everyone
We also have a very full year organised. Currently Ski-ing in Spain, and upon our return will be immediately into our 'vanning season, plans include, Pocklington, North Yorkshire; Harby, Lincolnshire; Peterborough, Northants; Spalding, Lincs; Kings Lynn, Norfolk; Towcester, Northants; Catterick, and Durham, and then Wiltshire, before Ski-ing back to here in June/July, just managing to squeeze it in before the 'vanning recommences.

Think we may be home for a change for my 60th in August:eek::eek::eek:

Hey! More Ski-ing materialised this weekend! A guy walked down our lane this morning and asked (in Spanish) where Gerald Brenan's house was. We replied in Spanish. Then he spoke to us in English and we got talking. Suffice it to say he loves our village and wants to stay longer than a weekend, so we are going to arrange a house exchange with him and his wife in Nerja (Costa del Sol). I also said I would like to exchange with his house in Ireland, so that may be in the pipeline too.

He visited us tonight for three hours and we talked lots and drank wine, a good time.

I've just realised that we can't fit everything in this year.

Want to go back to Ypres in good weather, taking aunt again. Need to be in Florida for DS's master's graduation, August. And he's here for work in April!

More gallivanting than being in the house, if we manage to get to Stratford and to London.

Agree with you,Sue, about hang the expense. OH is too cautious. I keep asking him what are our savings for.

Update on this: he has been back twice with his wife who is lovely. Home exchange arranged March 31 - April 5. But I'm sure we will meet as friends as well, we have so much in common! :)

just ski-ed back from Fuerteventura, just what the doctor ordered! it is so much nicer doing arm exercises in the sun ...

I got though UK security without setting off the alarms but activated it on the way home, however she just patted me down and sent me on my way without further questions or explanation!

I thought things had been quiet on the SS front and wondered if you were getting your toes tanned abroad. Good to hear you enjoyed it.
