We have finished our dog-sitting stint of twelve days (lovely well behaved animals, but my word, don't they tie you down!). Tomorrow I am SKI-ing in Newcastle-on-Tyne for a few days to meet some old friends, two of our former lodgers who married each other. I am Godmother to their daughter but I will not see her as she off at University. I haven't seen them for seven or eight years, REALLY looking forward to it. :). Used my Senior Railcard for the first time to book the train tickets and got the cost of the card back on that one journey.

Hubby says he is looking forward to the peace and quiet. :) He may go on his 'fast and powerful' machine to visit some other friends down south, he has not decided yet.

Coming down to London for 5 nights to see the sights and DS &GF. Staying in a Premier Inn (£29 special) north of the city but with a fast tube into the centre. Looked at going by train but not cost effectve, not old enough for the Senior Rail card yet, though DH is:D

What was the Jersey Boys like, and what sort of seats did you get?

Trying not to make too many decisions as weather will decide whether we walk the streets looking, or head for a show to hide fromt he weather!;)

Away this weekend in the 'van at Beverley, then London next.

May stay in the UK until early 2011, weather dependent!

    Take care - DG

This is where we're going to be staying this coming weekend: http://www.templefarmhouse.co.uk/

We're going up there for the Metcalfe family get-together at Hawes, Wensleydale. And to see a few friends and relatives on the way.

DH had no difficulty at all in getting a £2K loan when we changed our car recently, but he intends to pay it off quicker.

Donny-gal we went yesterday for our Jersey Boys trip , and it was excellent , OH doesn't like musicals but he would like to see it again... the seats were upper circle , second row with a perfect view.... for £19 it was an excellent afternoons entertainment... and just round the corner is a Steak House that does either nice steak or a choice of Roast dinners for £10

We went to a local Homebase this morning that is closing down and bought a great standard uplighter for the living room , it has an adjustable reading light lower down and will be perfect for knitting or reading .. it was £79 reduced to £37 reduced to £29 a great bargain.. I had been looking for one for ages but couldn't find one that matched our other sidelamp and this one is perfect...

Hi, everyone! Just back from Florida - the wedding was lovely! Weather had been a bit iffy, but they managed to have it on the beach and the sun came out just as they said their vows.

Logged on as I am trying to keep busy and awake! Cannot go to bed before 10 or I'll stay on US time!

I am dying to see Jersey Boys too. At least DH is not anti-London anymore, so I have a chance.

Edit: Errata - I didn't have chance to post this time - social whirl, y'know!

I also need to get DS's old laptop up and running so I can do post in 'real time' with you all.

Well we are back off to Spain in a month's time on the 23rd November.

We have recently SKI-d for a weekend in Oxford visiting friends, what a beautiful city it is, but very expensive to live in. Had a lovely time.

We have also SKI-d on a new TV to take back to Spain, and a new camera.

The car has had its service (it gets two a year, one in Spain before the drive over and one in the UK before the drive back, no wonder it has lasted such a long time!) and we are ready to go, apart from packing. We are travelling on Britanny Ferry's Cap Finisterre from Portsmouth to Santander as our old faithful Pride of Bilbao has retired. I'm sure I will not like the Cap as much, have a soft spot for the Pride!

  • Yes we too have a soft spot for the "Pride" !
We used to travel extensively round Spain on our motorbike and it was actually a very good way to start and finish our 6 week trips. Getting a bit old for such long expeditions on the bike nowadays - but have many happy memories and I've no doubt we'll be heading that way again soon albeit with a small caravan we've now acquired.

Just back from Ypres, where my aunt presented her late husband's papers to the In Flanders Field Museum.

Had a wonderful time, including the reception and being taken round the cemeteries with particular reference to poets. This was until my aunt fell and broke her hip!

We ended up spending 10 days away from home. Got fed up of wearing the same clothes.
